Help investigate another therapy against vitiligo
December 7, 2015 – For the past ten years Daniel has been living with an autoimmune disease that does not have a cure; it is called Vitiligo. While the disease is not fatal some he feels that the psychological effects make living with this disease nearly unbearable. Today, the therapies used to treat it not really solve the problem; since they are focused on to dissimulate the injuries. Daniel wants to see if he can find something to solve the issue using psychological and supportive therapy, oppose to the creams and drugs that doctors provide. He will take time off of work to interview people with this disease and see if he can dig up a common set of symptoms, psychological pains and a set of solutions.
After ten years of being in contact with the disease, Daniel has noticed that the affected people have certain factors in common. Not only stress, which is typically the professional diagnosis, or some traumatic event, but something much deeper. All these affected people Daniel has met feel themselves “prisoners”, either in a situation that they believe there are not escape, by religion or by a certain person (maybe a relationship). Perhaps the solution to the problem is not inside creams and drugs but in a psychological and supportive therapy!
Your generous funding will help Daniel get things started in order to travel within his time constraints and interview several affected people from different social classes and ethnic groups around the country and observe not only the environment around them, but also the people with they interact and the way they are treated, perhaps he could have a basis for testing some theories. It will assist him with the cost of flights, hotels and travel incidentals.
Daniel needs pledging above all else because without the proper funding this campaign cannot be a success, but it needs your attention and interest as well! If you love this idea as much as he does, then please take a moment to click on the link provided below.
Vitiligo (vit-ih-LIE-go) is a disease that causes the loss of skin color in blotches. The extent and rate of color loss from vitiligo is unpredictable. It can affect the skin on any part of your body. It may also affect hair, the inside of the mouth and even the eyes. Vitiligo occurs when the cells that produce melanin die or stop functioning.
Vitiligo affects people of all skin types, but it may be more noticeable in people with darker skin. The condition is not life-threatening or contagious. It can be stressful or make you feel bad about yourself. Treatment for vitiligo may improve the appearance of the affected skin but does not cure the disease.
