RALEIGH, North Carolina (December 21, 2015)
Chris Wellington aka “The Recruiting Guy” reminds us that life is all about change, as he announced that he is leaving the fast-paced world of executive talent search and recruitment to lead a start-up company focused on technology to modernize the food truck industry.
While this announcement will no doubt be a blow to Chris’ clients and 20million-plus followers on social media who rely on his insight and understanding of the world of recruitment to guide them, Chris’ move is also generating excitement among food truck owners, event coordinators and investors.
Explaining the reason behind his move, Chris recalls how, throughout his nearly-20 years as an executive recruiter and business owner, he had always worked with major players in the food industry. This move, he states, “is a natural accumulation of all my life’s work. From the early days of staffing for Goodmark Foods, to negotiating million-dollar recruiting contracts for global food companies and overseeing the execution of their services, I was exposed to the inner workings of the food industry. Many of my clients in the past have been venture capital-funded or run by private equity companies, and that experience has proven priceless in this transition.” He points out that rising through the ranks, he has many times been a trusted consultant to those companies, truly understanding their business models, talent challenges, growth strategies and the value proposition they represent.
The irony of this evolutionary stage of his own career is not lost on Chris. “Its funny how life works that way,” he states, “I have seen or been part of the evolution of the careers of so many people, from the CEO hired to take a company public to the Senior Engineer whose skills would go on to impact the company. Now I am excited to go through the process with my own career.”
He is just as excited about this new opportunity and the chance to help the food truck industry, which is still in its infancy, to navigate fluctuating customer needs, changing regulations and constantly evolving technology. Chris and those who know him are confident that he will bring to this new venture the same degree of commitment, enthusiasm and expertise that helped him rise to the top of the executive recruitment world.
