We are “ONE BILLION STANDING UP” and once again we raise our voices to generate this international social movement that year after year is achieved with the participation of society and has been in Mexico for 10 years.
Violence against women in Mexico has worsened during the Covid-19 pandemic; an example of this is the increase in emergency calls to 911 during this season when living at home for such long periods of time was not part of the daily routine, clouding communication and exposing people to violence. Come and raise your voice through art this 21 June 2022.
It is time to be heard again and there is no more effective means than art and music and dance will be our tools of expression, these are what motivate us to fight for a better world, an egalitarian world. We want to wake up feeling free, that on the path of life we look at each other shoulder to shoulder, all the people of this, our planet, to whom we also owe thanks, but above all respect, because we are damaging it as much as we are damaging our society.
In a quiet and pleasant place in Polanco in Mexico City we will gather with fervour and joy to dance, sing and demonstrate the freedom that guarantees our own safety as human beings. Let us empower our lives and our environment so that we are conscious of what we want and allow for ourselves, nothing and no one will break the shield we have forged as we walk building our future. Teatro Angela Peralta is the venue for UN BILLION STANDING 2022 where we will stand for the slogan “STANDING FOR THE BODIES OF WOMEN, GIRLS AND THE EARTH” we will gather to sing the anthem un billón de pie with Manoella Torres and celebrities who will give recognition to civil associations and activists who fight for gender equality.
