LOS ANGELES, CA – JANUARY 6, 2020 – Cedric Chevalley, Swiss jewelry designer, will be taking residency in Los Angeles. His new studio-gallery will be opening in February of 2020 in Santa Monica, California.
Chevalley grew up in Switzerland and became a victim of drug and alcohol addiction after being conscripted into the Swiss army. However, once he discovered his purpose as an artist, he was able to fully heal and start a new life. After studying as a machinist and subsequently learning how to blow glass at a prestigious school in the Czech Republic, Cedric channeled his highly perceptive and aesthetic viewpoint into making jewelry.
Chevalley also takes previously owned skateboard decks and turns them into artful statement pieces. “By upcycling, I can take things that are broken, dirty, and no longer available for use, and still create something new. I use the best features of discarded materials and give them a new life as a piece of art,” Chevalley says. “Similarly, I believe we all have the ability to start over. We can take each day and turn it into something extraordinary – no matter what challenges we’ve faced in the past.”
He is also the creator of the Mood Collection™, a globally recognized brand that allows each consumer to wear his or her piece in a multitude of ways.
Chevalley is living proof that we all have the power to transform our circumstances and create something beautiful. Currently, Chevalley operates under his brands, Cbijou© in the US and Cbijoux© in Europe, and creates one-of-a-kind wedding and engagement rings for each of his clients. He uses precious stones and metals, and also incorporates revolutionary materials such as tantalum into his designs.
“I’ve never been one to take the easy road,” Chevalley adds. “My work as a jewelry designer is a metaphor for my life. I love capitalizing on the unexpected and creating things that are truly revolutionary.”
