Gig economy expert joins start-up targeting independent professionals in life sciences R&D
LifeSciHub, a start-up online resource marketplace that is bringing the gig economy to the life sciences sector, has officially announced the appointment of Marion McGovern to its advisory board. McGovern is an expert in the gig economy having founded two companies in the category. Her M Squared Consulting and Collabrus Inc. were cutting-edge businesses in the gig economy. The companies’ successes led to their sale in 2005 to The Kelly Group.
McGovern has also authored two books on the gig economy, Thriving in the Gig Economy: How to Capitalize and Compete in the New World of Work, and A new Brand of Expertise: How Independent Consultants, Free Agents and Interim Managers are Transforming the World of Work.
“Marion’s extensive body of work in the staffing industry gives LifeSciHub the human-resources oriented perspective and expertise required to capitalize fully on the opportunity before us,” S. Jewels, LifeSciHub CEO, said.
McGovern’s incredible resume in the gig economy makes her one of the foremost experts on the topic. Her addition to LifeSciHub will provide the start-up with expert knowledge and insight into workforce and resourcing trends.
“Marion is a believer in strategic thinking and planning, and does it extremely well based on her visionary success in the staffing industry,” Jewels added. “Through her research and published works she has direct connections with and insights into the industry’s most dynamic and innovative players and trends. We are thrilled to have Marion join LifeSciHub as a strategic Advisor.”
The United States’ gig economy contains an estimated 16.5 million workers and continues to grow thanks to this powerful, evidence-backed tech-enabled trend. LifeSciHub allows life sciences R&D teams to fully realize the potential of unfettered access to a centralized and compliant independent workforce. McGovern’s expert knowledge in the gig economy field will be invaluable to LifeSciHub as it grows.
“I think there is an emerging need for dedicated online marketplaces, like LifeSciHub, that connect specialized, independent resources with new projects,” McGovern said. “I am very excited to contribute to LifeSciHub’s vision of bringing this new model to the life sciences industry.”
