Felion Youth Alternatives A Non-For-Profit Organization, Director Jose A Lino Has Donated His Hair For Disadvantage Children With Medical Hair Loss.
Garden City , NY October 17,2021— Felion youth alternatives a non-for-profit organization working with juveniles and Locks of Love an also non-for-profit helping recipients that have lost their hair due to an auto-immune condition known as alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure.
Felion Youth Alternatives provide services to those that have fallen through the cracks, by their families, teachers, society and are desperate for a sense of belonging. A lot of the trauma they have witnessed or participated in may lead to them self-medicating with drugs because they are unequipped with any coping skills. This population presents at high risk for incarceration, ongoing substance abuse, struggling with social and functional problems, unemployment, lack of high school documentation, family disintegration and weak or stressed social supports.
Felion Youth Alternatives strives to expand post-secondary exposure and improve opportunities for these students. Those who are very poor or chronically poor seem to be at an increased risk. Many children live far below poverty thresholds in what is labeled as extreme poverty.
Felion youth alternatives and his Director, Jose A Lino, a community-minded entrepreneur, keeps working tirelessly with various community organizations in Nassau County. He also helped to create and improve communications between political, social, economic leaders and the community- at-large. Now his goal is to add Locks of Love organization to his efforts and create this event to teach our juveniles compassion, and to give back to their community.

About Locks of Love:
Is a not-for-profit organization that provides the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children with medical hair loss. Most recipients have lost their hair due to an auto-immune condition known as alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. Others have suffered severe burns, radiation treatment, or any number of dermatological conditions resulting in long term or permanent hair loss. Locks of Love’s mission is to raise awareness in your community about the Locks of Love mission! Refer salons, donors, and potential recipients to our program, distribute our General Information brochure, check our web site frequently for updates, and encourage others to participate! Until there is a cure for hair loss, we will always need hair! We pay to produce the hairpieces (retail value ranges from $3,500 – $6,000) and donate them to our recipients. We rely on donations from individuals, foundations, and public institutions to help fund our program. All financial contributions are tax-deductible. The custom-made, vacuum-fitted hairpieces we provide don’t require tape or glue. Instead, they fit like a suction cup, displacing air underneath to create a vacuum seal. Approximately 150,000 hairs are injected by hand into the silicone base, all of them from donated ponytails (about six to ten). Each hairpiece takes four months to complete and is designed for those with a complete loss of scalp hair.
