Based in New York City, 108 Soul has seen record numbers tune in to their new radio station since it was launched in May 2020. 108 Soul plays R&B and classic hip-hop music that other radio stations have forgotten about and has become a huge hit with fans of real music.
The Soul of New York, 108 Soul has seen its audience grow to a staggering 150K, making them one of the most listened to new radio stations of 2020. The station which features on-air personalities Mike Shannon, Eutopia and Jiant daily can be downloaded from the App Store, Google Play, or listened to on Alexa. It has been attracting listeners in and around the USA and all corners of the world including the UK, the Caribbean islands, and Canada.
“We play the music that other stations have forgotten about,” explained a spokesman for 108 Soul.
With the nightclubs being closed in New York City due to Covid-19, The Soul of New York has introduced the Club 108 Soul show which airs Monday to Friday from 10 pm to midnight est. Club 108 Soul features five DJs including DJ Berry B on Mondays, DJ Gully on Tuesdays, DJ Tristate Jericko on Wednesdays, DJ CEO on Thursdays, and DJ Mell Starr on Friday nights. They have set the airwaves on fire with each night featuring a different style and selection of music.
When asked how they felt with the success of their radio station, a spokesman for 108 Soul replied: “We cannot believe how many listeners we have gained in such a short time, but on the other hand we are not surprised. The R&B and soul music we are playing is what people want to listen to and we will continue to play those hits the other radio stations are ignoring.”
The Soul of New York is attracting some real talent. DJ Lady D Wells has joined 108 Soul and has her show on Saturday afternoons from 12 pm-2 pm, DJ Famous also on Saturdays from 5 pm- 7 pm and there are talks that another well-known DJ who was on a “Hot” New York station will be joining the 108 family quite soon.
