OKLAHOMA ENTREPRENEURS CREATE FOUNDATION, TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR LOCAL HOMELESS YOUTH
Oklahoma City, OK: Oklahoma based, Community Beard Championship Foundation (CBCF) is attempting to brand the Saturday before Thanksgiving, as “Community Beard Championship Day,” where participating communities host local Beard and Mustache Championships to raise awareness and money for local homeless youth issues. Turning Facial Hair into Goodwill Charity! Impacting Oklahoma’s Youth Homeless Criss: An estimated 10,000 local youth are impacted by homelessness in the Oklahoma City metro area. Data from Oklahoma City Public Schools showed that 5,474 homeless youth were enrolled at the end of the 2016 school year. Of that number, approximately 80% were couch homeless. (temporarily staying with a friend, relative or acquaintance).
The CBCF’s mission is to raise awareness of local homeless youth issues, and align resources with needs. “When it first sinks in that nearly 10,000 homeless school age youth living in the OKC metro, you think that’s not acceptable… something must be done”, — Kurtis DeLosier, CBCF Interim-President. “We have found that greater awareness leads to action…”, said — Rachel Durham, Director of Development for Positive Tomorrows, Oklahoma’s only school specifically serving homeless youth. “Events like The BEARDED OPEN will increase awareness, raise charitable contributions, and bring relief to innocent homeless youth.” — Rachel Durham
The CBCF will hold its inaugural golf event The BEARDED OPEN, a celebrity charity golf scramble tournament on Monday, July 2 at Oak Tree Golf & Country Club. Interested foursome golf teams may sign-up online at TheBeardedOpen.com or email SwingIntoAction@TheBeardedOpen.com.
