Gili Trawangan, Indonesia – With limited air travel and a range of additional regulations and requirements put in place many people still found a way to get to the Gili Islands and make that life changing step with PADI Course Director Holly Macleod. Of course the 253+ certifications issued include the Open Water Scuba Instructor, Emergency First Response Instructor and a range of different Specialty Instructor ratings.
On the PADI Scuba Diving Instructor Development Course (IDC), Holly Macleod still saw many people travelling to the Gili Islands to take Instructor training from a huge variety of different global locations including Indonesia (both Jakarta and Flores), India, Hong Kong, China, Poland, USA, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Holland, Italy, Sweden, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France, Australia, Korea, Portugal, Singapore, Canada and Greece. All were certified professional Divemasters’ and on completing the PADI IDC Program, took the externally evaluated PADI Instructor examination in Gili Trawangan.
As the global pandemic grew across the world, less and less people visited the island of Gili Trawangan, meaning that; aside from Instructor programs many dive centres closed and very few recreational dive courses took place. Being situated at the only ever 5 Star IDC Career Development Centre (CDC) in Gili Trawangan meant that social distancing, regulatory and safety protocols were able to be implemented easily without disrupting the general flow or the quality of training.
One great thing is that during 2020 PADI Course Director Holly Macleod was able to once again secure the PADI Platinum Status and the Elite-300 Award for the 8th consecutive year. This provides professional divers with the knowledge they are receiving an Industry approved and awarded level of quality few other programs can match. The combination with a proven track record and a wealth of experience within the recreational diving industry creates a great opportunity for certified Divemaster’s looking to take the next step. Holly has been within the diving industry over 18 years, having working within a variety of global diving destinations including Honduras, Thailand, Australia, UK, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia & Singapore and has issued well over 3000 Instructor level certifications in the Gili Islands alone. Instructor candidates will receive real life, experienced based training and will be provided with the necessary skills, knowledge and most of all confidence to be highly successful teaching others to dive.
For those looking to take professional Instructor training in 2021, the PADI IDC Gili Islands Instructor Development Course Schedule (IDC) is scheduled throughout the year and offers professional divers with 9 opportunities to participate. Potential candidates also have the chance to check out the PADI IDC Indonesia Instagram Page to see what’s happening throughout all Instructor level training and can see first-hand reviews on the IDC Gili Islands TripAdvisor Page:
