Agbada Books Debuts Children’s Book ‘A Is For Agbada: An African Alphabet Adventure’ Kickstarter Campaign Launch Scheduled For April 27, 2021

Denver, CO – April 23, 2021 – Agbada Books has announced the official launch of its first title, ‘A IS FOR AGBADA: An African Alphabet Adventure’. The new book will be available for pre-order via Kickstarter starting on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, 11AM EST.

Agbada Books is a black woman owned children’s book publishing company founded in August 2020 with a mission to bring African stories to children around the world. Their books are designed to tell stories of African people and African culture in a fun and engaging way that children will enjoy.

Udhedhe Olakpe and Ufuoma Olakpe, sisters, founders, and principal authors at Agbada Books, wanted to share books that highlight African culture with their children, in order to give them a sense of pride in their heritage. When they discovered the startling lack of such books on the market, they decided to launch their publishing firm.

Now, the company has announced its first title.

‘A IS FOR AGBADA: An African Alphabet Adventure’ is a unique and charming alphabet book celebrating the rich culture and exciting sights and sounds of life in Africa’s most populous country – Nigeria. From A for Agbada to Z for Zuma, this fresh alphabet book takes young readers on an exciting adventure  to discover the people, places, lifestyles, and language of modern day life in an African country.  Beautiful illustrations from illustrator Gaby Zermeño bring to life the beauty, wonder, and culture of this vast and vibrant country.

On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, the Kickstarter pre-sale campaign begins, giving people the opportunity to support Agbada Books in its first book launch. “As a small independent publisher, Agbada Books is launching our first title on Kickstarter for pre-order to fund our print runs because we don’t have the same access to capital as a big traditional publisher,” said Ufuoma Olakpe. “This way you get the same level of quality you would get from a big publisher but with the attention and care that you can only get from a small business.”

The Kickstarter pre-sale campaign for ‘A IS FOR AGBADA: An African Alphabet Adventure’ aims to make the book available to people worldwide. Backers will receive exclusive perks such as limited-edition books, sticker sheets, handmade Ankara pencil cases, and virtual classroom visits! The pre-sale campaign runs from April 27, 2021 – May 27, 2021.
