An Amazing Singer-Songwriter Sings With Someone Else’s Lungs

SHE’S SINGING WITH SOMEONE ELSE’S LUNGS

Singer, songwriter, and speaker, Chloe Temtchine, and Mark Barrette, her co-writer on Beautiful Mess, have written a love song that will both move you and keep you guessing. Literally. Chloe left it to her audience to choose the ending of the music video. Did the love fantasy remain a fantasy or did it become a reality?

What makes this story even more powerful is that not too long ago, writing a song about love would have in and of itself been a fantasy for Chloe, who recently received the gift of a life-saving, double-lung transplant.

After living with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) and Pulmonary Veno Occlusive Disease (PVOD) for 12 years, lugging around her oxygen tank that she affectionately named Steve Martin for seven of those years, going into cardiac arrest, being in a coma, and then on ECMO (life support), it is no wonder Chloe has been primarily focused on writing songs about survival. “Although I love writing songs about hope, It feels so great to be able to write a love song. I’m a little less focused on life and death at the moment.”

Prior to her transplant, Chloe’s once-booming career was admittedly “derailed,” Temtchine said, mostly because performing became so difficult.

“I kept pushing to try to perform, and every time I did, I got worse and worse. I did the best I could with what I had,” she said.

Chloe, who sings with a paralyzed vocal cord, has written with an array of songwriters and producers, including Toby Gad (who has written for John Legend, Beyonce, and Fergie, among many others) and Greg Camp of Smash Mouth. She has won many awards, including Avon’s award for “Best Song” presented to her by Fergie (who was also a member of the Black Eyed Peas).

Now, post-double-lung transplant, Chloe’s goals have shifted. She recalls a moment in the ICU when she said: “I used to dream of winning a grammy; now my dream is just to be able to stand up again.” Stand up she has! Chloe is back in action writing music, speaking, and bringing awareness to both Pulmonary Hypertension and to the importance of organ donation, while continuing, every step of the way, to spread her message of hope.

In addition to having her fans choose the ending of her latest music video, MDIIO and their new brand hyprAUDIO have teamed up with Chloe to host a remix contest of the song Beautiful Mess. This contest is open to everyone. The lucky winner will receive prizes that are listed on the MDIIO site and a feature/shoutout on Chloe’s IG page.
