Azure Palm Hot Springs is transforming the expansive property at 67589 Hacienda Avenue in Desert Hot Springs, originally a Japanese Onsen known as the Sunset Inn, flourishing for years before lying dormant for a decade. The new owners, with Maria Lease at the helm, who previously developed the top-rated The Spring Resort and Spa, are bringing a unique and unprecedented day spa Oasis to Southern California.
Grading has begun on the Oasis–an acre of tranquil paths, hammocks, secluded sunbathing pads, a Finnish Sauna, Chi Room and unique reflexology walk. Private mineral water soaking tubs will be available for 2 hour rental periods. The Oasis will ultimately expand to a 3 acre geothermal mineral spring adult playground.
“Southern Californians are busy and living with stress. Everyone needs to rejuvenate and re-energize, returning to life with a fresh perspective,” says managing director Maria Lease.
Renovations began this spring on the luxury boutique resort’s 40 overnight accommodations:
- 24 luxury spa suites featuring private in-room hot mineral tubs
- Expansive Santa Rosa Spa suites over 1000 sq feet
- 16 west-facing King Balcony city and mountain view rooms
“We’re using wood and natural materials that draw out the natural desert environment as much as possible. Nature is our decorating guide,” says Lease.
The day spa and overnight experience will be a destination draw for visitors to the Coachella Valley and a welcomed contribution to Desert Hot Springs’ economy. Planned amenities include:
- The only authentic Himalayan salt room in the Coachella Valley
- The companion Ice Room for transitioning body temperature after enjoying the salt sauna
- 90’ x 40’ sparkling clear mineral spring pool
- 2 outdoor and 2 indoor mineral spas
- With 12 treatment rooms offering 30 specially curated spa therapies focusing on health and rejuvenation from facials, scrubs and wraps to a complete line of massages modalities, including couple massages
“People want to connect and share, and do it safely. The grounds are expansive, with socially distant lounge areas, private in-room soaking tubs, and private outdoor tub rentals,” says General Manager Mike Konrad.
Spa Director, Yesenia Johnson is also bringing her popular Vida Cleanse to AZURE PALM HOT SPRINGS. 3, 5 and 7 day juice fasting retreats offering yoga, light hiking, colon hydro-therapy and more. Fresh squeezed juice will be prepared in their own kitchen daily.
In addition to fresh juice, the on-site AZURE CAFÉ will offer breakfast, espresso and coffee drinks, juices and light healthy eating fare throughout the day.
