Six times National Boxing Champion wins Gold At National Eastern Qualifier In Columbus, Ohio
One of the most exciting young boxers of recent years has done it again and proven why he is the future of the boxing world. Joseph Awinongya Jr who recently met with the Mayor of Chicago who congratulated him winning the Jr Olympic Championship, has won Gold At National Eastern Qualifier In Columbus, Ohio.
Winning Gold was no easy task. Joseph Awinongya Jr who fought Kaleb Johnson in the semi-finals and Amir Lee in the finals, was the only one out of 47 boxers in the male division that won a title from Illinois. The latest win for Joseph has made those that matter in the boxing world stand up and take notice of the boxer.
After winning Gold at the National Eastern Qualifier In Columbus Ohio Joseph met with the manager of International Brotherhood of Electrical workers (I.B.E.W) Local union #134. Donald Finn congratulated Joseph on his win and his continued rise to the top.
He shared kind words with Joseph to “keep it going” and “continue doing good in school”. He told Joseph that anytime he needs anything he should reach out to him.
Joseph met with Donald Finn manager of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W) Local union #134 after winning gold at Nationals. The Chicago boxer was sponsored by the Bolingbrook Mayor to attend the National Eastern Qualifiers 2019 in the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Columbus, Ohio. Joseph is also sponsored by Joliet Hawk Chevy Auto-Jim Muisenga.
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 holds several amateur boxing events that encourage kids to continue perfecting their craft.
Joseph Awinongya Jr has become a role model, he is the only one keeping amateur boxing alive in Chicago. It is hoped with all his success, more young people will take to boxing and follow in Joseph footsteps.
