The excitement is building as the final votes are being cast for the Audacy’s annual Hollywood Bowl concert in Los Angeles. We have been following Coco Bean, the stage alter-ego of Phil Elam, on his journey throughout the competition.
We managed to catch up with Phil as he was just getting off the film set for an upcoming Lifetime Movie. Even though he can’t say anything about the movie or his involvement, he says to make sure you have a warm snuggly blanket to curl up with when it’s released.
We asked Phil about his preparations for the opening act. If he wins this competition we know he will deliver an incredible performance. Phil told us: “It’s all about seeing it in detail, pulling elements from favourite concert performances and bringing them all together into a cohesive vision. That is the primary focus.”
He added: “If honoured to be the Hollywood Bowl concert opener, expect an imaginative and extravagant visual introduction that will dazzle and thrill the audience. This will be an experience that will set the tone for the rest of the night. Everyone will know that It’s-gonna-be-a-PARRTTTAAEEEEE!”
SURPRISE:
Not only is Phil a highly skilled and talented singer, songwriter and producer. But he also studied classical piano as a young child. Phil told us: “When people learn this the response is always like, “WWWHATTTTT!!??? My last live show was at Detroit’s intimate Marlene Bolls Theatre, in January 2020, right before Ms Corona showed up.” He added, “The show ended with the first original song I ever wrote on an upright piano. It was sooooo humbling to see everyone on their feet at the end.”

The fact that Coco Bean will deliver a breathtaking performance is not the only reason to vote for him.
