15 April, 2020 – CovMD, a non-profit platform connecting medical professionals across the world by enabling them to communicate on a COVID-19 forum with Video Conferencing was announced as a winner of the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s COVID-19 challenge. A competitive 48-hour virtual hackathon, teams of bright student and entrepreneurial minds from across the nation competed to develop innovative solutions to the most pressing technical, social, and financial issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“CovMD is honored to be the hackathon’s winner,” remarked Darren Johnson, CEO of CovMD and hackathon participant. “COVID-19 has affected us all, including our families, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. But we can only beat it together. With CovMD, we take on the fight head-on and connect professionals and patients with lifesaving resources.”

Founded by a team of health and technology student experts, CovMD is a streamlined platform that keeps medical professionals and patients connected around the world. Improving healthcare processes, CovMD reaches out to top doctors who have valuable experience to share. With COVID-19 expertise, either from treating patients on the frontlines or performing lifesaving clinical research, these top doctors can share their knowledge and insights with other professionals using an online forum. Additionally, individuals can utilize this network for their own health needs. CovMD makes it easy to find a hospital or doctor, request an appointment, and use video chat features for live telehealth services.

“With evolving healthcare needs and concerns, patients and medical professionals need to connect seamlessly and efficiently,” added Johnson. “CovMD makes this possible, taking an important step in the fight against COVID-19.”

CovMD further monitors developments in hospitals and treatment centers nationwide. Helping to alleviate dangerous medical supply shortages, including no-capacity hospitals, hospital centers and emergency rooms can report their number of available beds and monitor counterparts in real-time. Keeping the medical community informed, CovMD improves the process of admitting patients and sharing medical resources.
