Not one to sit still, Donnell used the pandemic and lockdown as an opportunity to experience things he once never dreamed of doing. From kayaking in the famous Yellow Springs River to rock skipping and whitewater rafting, Donnell has been relaxing and experiencing everything in nature during Dave Chappelle’s 2020 Summer Camp. Through his time there, Donnell has gained an introspective view on life that has never been more spot on, and he is forever changed by his experience; he came down from floating on the river with the knowledge that during these more difficult times it is extremely important that we remember to relax. Ruckus Comedy is honored to present Donnell Rawlings’s first comedy album in over ten years. Barrett Dungy, the CEO of Urban Home Entertainment, created the Ruckus Comedy label by curating over 30 comedy radio shows for Sirius XM, highlighting comedians with similar pedigree such as comedians Jamie Foxx, Mark Curry, Lil Rel, Paul Mooney, the Kings and Queens of Comedy, and Blue Collar platinum selling comedian Ron White.
“Donnell has always been my favorite comedian. I watched him open in New York when Dave Chappelle first started performing and I could not stop laughing. I have never seen an opening act take down the house like Donnell Rawlings. Donnell is a wordsmith and weaved an incredible experience that is uniquely his own. Donnell is best known for appearing next to Charlie Murphy and Dave Chappelle on The Chappelle Show with his crowd favorite character “Ashy Larry”. Donnell has also done stand-up comedy on Showtime at the Apollo and has made appearances on The Wire, The BMF Story, BET’s The Twenties, and recently recognized worldwide for his character “Dev” from Pixar’s Soul, where the movie earned an Oscar.
