Hales Corners, Wisconsin – July 2, 2020 – When Gary Plassmeyer, Andrew Baer and Alycia Pogreba founded Mama Bev’s Bakery, located at 5620 S.108th St in Hales Corners WI, they knew it had one main purpose in mind: making a difference in the community.
Mama Bev’s is a new bakery retail and distribution company focused on one product, St. Louis Butter Cake. For those of you who don’t know what butter cake is, think of a perfect combination of cheesecake and yellow cake with just the right amount of butter to boot. It was created in St. Louis MO in the late 1930’s and has since become a staple in that community. Gary, who grew up in St. Louis, introduced it to the Milwaukee market about 2 years ago and it has taken on a mind of its own since then.
“Mama Bev’s primary focus isn’t entirely on cakes. Faith, family community and consistency are at the base of our core values and the cake is just an added bonus. We have been feeding Milwaukee hospitals weekly since the end of March and have recently taken on a one of a kind, hot meal initiative right here in our own backyard,” says Mama Bev’s Gary Plassmeyer.

Working closely with Southbrook Church, Hales Corners Lutheran Church, Ebenezer Stone Ministries and God Touch MKE to feed over 500 people hot meals on July 11, 2020 as part of a new and ongoing outreach to make a difference. The meals will be given away in the God Touch MKE parking lot located on 1501 W. Lincoln Ave, Milwaukee WI at 1130am. Contact God Touch Milwaukee for further information.
Gary Plassmeyer adds, “This is just a small portion of what our group of committed people are up to. We have also been building weekly hot meals, starting at 300 and working our way to 1,000, to take out to whomever is in need. With the food being hot, it is the only hot food delivered to those in need within the metro Milwaukee area.”
