Many schools close amidst COVID-19 outbreak, but an English Language School in Los Angeles American English College is thriving

Making the switch from traditional on-campus to an interactive online experience

LOS ANGELES, California – June 19, 2020 – American English College (AEC) is a family-owned Intensive English language school that’s helped international students achieve their educational goals for the past 30 years have finally launched their first online English program, and it’s gaining worldwide recognition.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools were the first to shut down, causing an alarming drop in study abroad interest and student enrollment. Thinking ahead, AEC began planning the need to shift online in early March, and in a matter of weeks, launched an online pilot to test internally with teachers. This required additional hours of instructor training to ensure the active, engaging, and communicative style of their in-person courses would translate well online.  Switching all lesson plans and curriculum to be adapted for online learning, AEC focused on ways to improve the educational quality by taking advantage of technology. Managing students expectations without compromising on quality was the goal. And amidst the chaos of a looming pandemic, AEC has and continues to provide the utmost support to students and teachers.

American English College’s website (www.aec.edu) states “Our interactive, live online English courses are taught by experienced, native-speaking teachers who truly care about our students.” The Director of Admissions went on to note, “It was important to us that students continued to progress academically, keep on their educational path and feel confident about their visa statuses in the USA. They rely on us, and there’s no question we would put in the work for them. Thankfully, our students have continued to recommend us to their friends – even those back in their home country – and we’ve seen a steady interest in our online program.”

AEC has committed to continuing their online program for Summer Quarter, which starts July 6, 2020 until September 25, 2020. Students around the world are welcomed to join in live, face-to-face with an AEC teacher and other international classmates. Online English courses are offered in 6 levels, from beginning to advanced, with an average student age range of 18-28 years old. Like other schools, there is no denying that the coronavirus has impacted overseas F1 applicants, but they are viewing this as an opportunity to double down on improvements. They have launched new marketing initiatives that highlight current student’s experiences and testimonials.
