Momager Hip-Hop Aficionado, Hopes To Fill A Void In The Hip-Hop Music Industry With Edgy, Positive Hip-Hop Lyrics The Whole Family Can Vibe To

First we had the Jackson Five, then we had the Jonas Brothers, and now we have JKidz_Official. The Hip-Hop band which consists of two big brothers Andres aka “Dresito”, Alexander Alyas aka “The Flyest”, and a sassy princess named Mia, aka “Mighty Mia” are hoping to have the same success.

The young group have already caused excitement in the music world and have gained fans in all corners of the world.  Music insiders have already called them one of the most exciting new bands in the USA, while their fans have called them a breath of fresh air.

Their newly-released song, inspired by Drill beats titled, “I DON’T UNDERSTAND”, has caused excitement in the music world, so we decided to get together with JKidz_Official and learn more about them.

Who came up with the name JKidz_Official?

I (mom) came up with the name. J is for our last name, Jimenez. Kidz with a “z” because they’re young and edgy.  With Official, I wanted to make them sound like young, hip-hop superheroes.

Jkidz_Official, consists of three family members, Andres aka “Dresito”, Alexander Alyas aka “The Flyest”, and a sassy princess named Mia, aka “Mighty Mia”, what is it like for you all to work together and go on this exciting musical path together?

It’s a blessing to be able to spend a lot of time with your family, we learn so much from each other. Dresito and Alex complement each other in the studio and on stage, and Mia, the princess, softens things up, but she can be powerful too, physically, and emotionally. Now it’s mostly fun half the time, the other half of the time they are normal siblings that occasionally get on each other’s nerves and need their individual space.

You have just released a new Hip-Hop track that many are already saying will be a huge hit, what can you tell me about the track?

Dresito really wanted a drill inspired song, so we added our usual spin, replacing violent themes with empowerment, and excellence. Last minute we added Alex to the track, and the two created a nice blend together.  We are super excited about the response.  DJ Suss One, a close friend, from New York’s Power 105.1 FM and iHeartRadio, immediately recognized the void we were trying to fill in hip-hop, saying “it’s a song all kids can get sturdy to that’s also appropriate for them to rap along with”. We knew we had something when all their friends were getting together making TikTok’s of themselves getting sturdy to the song.

Who wrote the track, and whose idea was it to promote the problem of bullying that so many young people face today?

You are referring to their first song, “Haters”.  When Alex moved to a new school for the 4th grade, he encountered some challenges with other kids. It’s never easy being the new kid in school, especially in a school that wasn’t very diverse. When I was a kid, the advice I would have received was to just be tough and immediately hit the person if they pick on you, but we wanted to do better.  We talked about it a lot and worked with his teacher to the point where the kids all became friends.  Doing what we do, we collaborated with my sister-in-law, Singer/Song writer Katherine Omara to work with Alex to write lyrics for the song, “Haters” the first song we put out, she’s incredibly talented. We thought perhaps we can use music to educate other kids to use their voice.  There is a verse in the song that says, “If you see a bully, you have to do the right thing, tell the nearest teacher, don’t listen to what bullies say…” CNN seemed to like the message too, and having an international spotlight to promote the song was super exciting!

If you could give one piece of advice to someone who is being bullied, what would it be?

Like the song “Hater’s” says, tell the nearest teacher or adult, don’t listen to what bullies say. It’s not weak to speak up and use your voice.  You shouldn’t have to suffer in silence, you shouldn’t have to suffer at all!

You have already got a huge fan base, but if Simon Cowell came knocking on your door, would you ever consider going on America’s Got Talent?

Being noticed by Simon Cowell would be an honor, the man has so much experience spotting talent, and being on a show like America’s Got Talent would really be amazing.

If you could get together with any artist in the world to release a track, who would it be and why?

Nas and KRS-One were often played in our home, they are an inspiration, and it would be amazing to simply get a nod of approval from these hip-hop greats. For a collab, I have to say three names, because of their thoughtful, empowering lyrics, Kendrick Lamar, J-Cole, and their cousin Omar Jimenez, also known as OJ Trop.

You have fans all over the world, so are there any plans to do a tour?

We just spent 9 weeks in Colombia and the Dominican Republic, dad’s parents are from Colombia, and my parent’s are from DR.  We wanted the kids to connect with their roots, and have plans for a song in Spanish, so stay tuned for that. One night in a resort in Punta Cana, the DJ put on some American music and my kids ended up in the middle of a dance circle wowing the crowd.  The next day they were asked to perform their music on the main stage for the resort guests, mind you, the resort can hold thousands of guests, they got a huge applause at the end, so I guess you can say the world tour has started!

Where would like to be in five years time and what goals do you want to achieve?

The kids are growing up so quickly, we are still thinking a year at a time, and this next year is looking quite busy. They will model and perform in NY Fashion week in February, LA Fashion week in March, and Miami Swim week in the summer.  They are working on a project with their father called the Pursuit of Excellence, a family show to showcase their creativity, singing, dancing, and acting, while dealing with the major issues kids face these days, like we did with the bullying song, but on a larger scale.  Perhaps their brand to make doing the right thing cool, can inspire kids to get passed these obstacles of bullying, violence, and drugs on their own pursuit of excellence. Of course, they’ll do it in their edgy, JKidz_Official way. Ultimately, we leave it in God’s hands, we appreciate our blessings, and are excited about the future.

Jkidz_Official have performed at several venues across the U.S., including New York Fashion Week, San Antonio Hip-Hop Festival, and will perform at L.A. Fashion Week on March 25th and Miami Fashion Week.
