National Volunteer Month Kicked Off for April 2023: Best-Selling Author Yedidah Spann Encourages Others to Volunteer

Charlotte, NC – April 11, 2023 – April marks National Volunteer Month, a time to encourage volunteerism throughout the month as well as recognize and celebrate the contributions of volunteers who dedicate their time, talent, and resources to make a difference in their communities. According to best-selling author Yedidah Spann of the non-profit organization Faith Works Women Empowered (FWWE), volunteering not only benefits the recipients but also has positive effects on the volunteers themselves.

“We are excited to celebrate National Volunteer Month, which highlights the importance of volunteerism and encourages individuals to get involved in their communities.” Volunteering can help individuals develop new skills, make new friends, and enhance their sense of purpose and well-being.

According to Spann, there are many ways that individuals can volunteer their time and talents to help others in need. Some ideas include:

  1. Volunteer at a local food bank or soup kitchen to help feed those who are struggling with hunger.
  2. Volunteer at a homeless shelter to provide support and resources to individuals experiencing homelessness.
  3. Volunteer at a nursing home or assisted living facility to provide companionship and support to seniors.

To kick off National Volunteer Month, Yedidah Spann and FWWE donated dozens of her books, “Don’t Give Up: Acknowledging the Struggle, Celebrating Resilience,” to bring hope to single mothers living in a homeless shelter. In addition, FWWE has partnered with Extended Stay America to host a free family night event to give back to families who are staying in the hotel as a home away from home.

FWWE encourages everyone to find a cause they are passionate about and volunteer their time and talents to make a difference in their community. “Not only will you be helping others, but you will also be enriching your own life in the process.”

National Volunteer Month, which started on April 1, 2023, will continue until April 30, 2023. Hopefully, people will be encouraged to volunteer their time and talents to make a difference through community service.
