It’s only the begging of a new decade where I’ll continue to dedicate all my best to my artistic endeavors to benefit the New Yorkers. It’s a long way from the suburbs of Paris filled with dreams to perform someday in New York, to miraculously land in the Mayor of New York’s words and congratulations. PAUL, Minn.Jan. 23, 2021 – The children’s book, “Justice Makes a Difference: The Story of Miss Freedom Fighter, Esquire,” has been selected as the winner in the first annual Minnesota Author Project competition in the Communities Create category. The children’s book was co-written by Dr. Artika Tyner and Jacklyn Milton, and illustrated by Jeremy Norton.

“We’re extremely honored,” said Tyner. “Together, we’re all promoting literacy ad diversity in books.”

The competition and the Communities Create category is sponsored by the Minnesota Library Foundation in partnership with Library Journal, BiblioBoard Library, and MN Writes Reads. The Minnesota Author Project celebrates Minnesota organizations and communities that are producing written creative works. Winners were announced at the Minnesota Library Association Conference that was held virtually this year.

The winner of the competition receives a $1,000 cash award, is honored with a plaque, and receives professional printing of the book. The book will also be available throughout the state in the Indie Minnesota collection on BiblioBoard Library. The book was submitted under the auspices of Planting People Growing Justice™ Leadership Institute (https://www.ppgjli.org/) (PPGJLI).

Founded by Tyner, the PPGJLI seeks to plant the seeds of social change through education, training and community outreach. The PPGJLI focuses on building pipelines of success for K-12 students, promoting academic excellence, and unveiling each student’s limitless potential through books, educational offerings, and youth leadership summits. The PPGJLI will be partnering with local libraries for programming, book readings, and adding its books to their collections.

Minnesota Radio Station Highlights Dr. Artika Tyner for Black History Month

0

St. Paul, MN – Feb. 6, 2021 – In celebration of Black History Month, WCCO Radio is highlighting Black Minnesota leaders, along with systemic issues of race and social justice that continue to plague society. One of the individuals featured in the series was children’s author, Dr. Artika Tyner. Tyner was interviewed by Sloane Martin, WCCO Radio Reporter/Anchor.

“We have to make sure that our books and curriculum reflects reality and the beauty of the rich cultural tapestry of our nation and our world,” said Tyner.

She’s uniquely qualified to address those issues. Tyner is the founder of the non-profit organization Planting People Growing Justice™ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI). The PPGJLI advocates for children, literacy, and social justice, along with culturally responsive teaching & trauma-informed education. Tyner’s books are empowering the next generation of leaders.

Children’s books in which youth can see themselves reflected in the role of the protagonist are essential if they are to dream and envision a future where they can emulate heroes that look as they do. Tyner’s children’s books are making a significant impact in that respect. Her books promote literacy, cultural awareness, and leadership development. “It’s a message for 365 days a year – not just during Black History Month,” said Tyner.

Tyner’s award-winning children’s books feature young and inspiring heroes and sheroes. In “Justice Makes a Difference: The Story of Miss Freedom Fighter, Esquire,” a young girl learns about great African-American leaders from around the globe. In “Joey and Grandpa Johnson’s Day in Rondo,” a boy discovers the important historic role of the community in which he lives.

“All of my books have a connection to the past, present and future,” said Tyner. “I hope my books will be the catalyst for students to learn more about history, the history of racial injustice in America, and provide the spark that will lead them to effect change in meaningful ways. Children that learn to read, learn to lead.”

Children are more likely to read books with characters that reflect who they are when they look in the mirror. Literacy is a key component of change and social justice. Tyner’s books are accomplishing those goals and demonstrating to youngsters that they’re never too young to make a difference, serve their community, and work for social justice.

How the right mattress can improve a person’s health

0

The importance and impact of good sleep on people’s health cannot be overestimated. It can reduce stress levels, help relieve any pain that a person might have, and protect their mental health.

However, there can be no good sleep without a good mattress.

Because of that, it’s important which mattress to choose to sleep on since not every type of mattress is good for every person and their body type. In the rest of this article, it will go deeper into the health benefits a mattress can bring a person so that the next time they find themselves in a situation they need one, they don’t just pick one at random. This can have a huge impact on the overall quality of life.

A diet will be better

Apart from the benefits mentioned in the introduction, it may be surprising to know that a disturbed sleep routine can cause people to gain weight, and it has been documented that people (predominantly men) who suffer from a lack of sleep are more likely to include high-calorie food in their diet.

In fact, women who sleep too much or too little gain on average 11 pounds. So, if a person wants to stay slim, they need to make sure they sleep well, say experts at Sleepreality.com. In addition to all of that, not enough sleep can increase insulin resistance, which is the cause of Type 2 diabetes.

Prevent strokes and heart conditions!

But a lack of sleep can also have much more serious consequences since it increases the risk of developing serious coronary heart or artery disease or even falling victim to a stroke!

It’s actually quite incredible to note that people who don’t get enough sleep have a 48% chance to develop or even die from a coronary heart condition. Proper sleep also reduces the chances for a stroke since people who don’t get enough of it are 15% more likely to suffer one.

In short, it’s important to get enough sleep to stay healthy, and that cannot happen if consumers don’t have the right mattress.

Immediate effects of a good mattress

The importance of choosing the right mattress can be seen in the immediate effects that can have on the sleeper.

For example, medium-firm mattresses are ideal solutions for elderly people as they diminish the pain in their bones and muscles a lot. Furthermore, strong bedding systems help the cardiovascular system do its job better.

It is also important how the mattress deals with the pressure the body exerts on it while having a sleep, which is why people should be careful what the mattress is made of – it’s not the same if the mattress has springs, foam, or latex inside. Another thing that can impact a person’s sleep is the temperature of the mattress they are sleeping on because some tend to get quite warm.

But most importantly, a good mattress allows people to recharge their batteries – 92% of people who participated in the 2011 Sleep Foundation poll said that the mattress is vital for their sleep!

Conclusion

All of the information listed here is a result of this independent research, and people can clearly see that choosing the right mattress has immediate effects on your quality of sleep, and quality sleep will help with long-term health. So, do set some time aside and find the right product. People will feel the benefits for years to come.

“Love – What It Is, What It’s Not” clarified in Michael Soward’s new e-book

0

So much has been said and written about love that some people have been left confused. Clearing the matter is a new e-book by Michael Soward. The book seeks to demystify love, cut out the unnecessary information about it, and help the reader begin a brand-new road to find and keep real true love. The book is entitled “Love- What It Is, What It’s Not”, and sets to separate the true and false information about love. The author tells it from his personal experience, where he has been taught that love in its purest, raw form is a God-Given Force.

Michael believes that pure love has absolutely nothing to do with sex, expensive gifts, beautiful houses, clothes, great shoes, and awesome family gatherings, although these are indeed all small parts of an extremely gigantic puzzle.

The e-book is available on Amazon – https://www.amazon.com/Love-What-Not-Michael-Soward-ebook/dp/B08VJJ7PP5/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Michael+Soward+Love-What+It+Is%2C+What+It%27s.

Micheal Soward’s understanding and inspiration about love comes from 1 John 4: 7-9 (King James Version of The Holy Bible) which reads as follows;

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.”

Michael Soward has another book entitled “Life-ology 101: If All Else Fails, Smile.” The book, like the current title, is about life. Soward encourages his readers to have hope and regardless of the life challenges, push on and never give up.

This is not the first time Michael Soward has covered the topic of love.  He is also an accomplished musician and a musical director, as well as an assistant pastor for the Power of Love Ministries in Los Angeles, CA.  He has also recorded an album entitled “Real Love.”

About Michael Soward

Michael Soward is a renowned author and music producer. He is the founder and president of Exclusive Marketing Services, a New York-based record promotion and marketing company that is dedicated to defining and executing excellence in promoting new projects and finding new approaches to reach market share and increase musical opportunities for his clients.

KF94 Face Masks Now Available to The Public

Kollectusa.com offers COVID-19 protection designed for frontline health workers, but now for everyone

LOS ANGELES – Feb 8, 2021 – Today, Kollectusa.com announced that it is offering secure and safe KF94 face masks for sale to the general public. Designed for use by professional frontline health workers, the KF94 face masks provide a higher level of safety to the people that need them. Many face coverings that look safe may not protect people at all. Surgical masks and cloth masks provide protection up to a point, but are not as effective as a quality KF94 mask.

“There is a huge demand for KF94 face masks,” said a spokesperson for Kollectusa.com. “We thought that the virus would begin to be less of a safety issue, but now with variants and the possibility of reinfection, we have ramped up the manufacture and distribution of our products. Initially there were shortages of the popular KF94 face masks because they are proven to protect people from exposure to the contagion of the coronavirus. Though there are other varieties of face masks available, the success of the KF94 mask has become more evident through word of mouth and reasonable cost.”

The coronavirus has continued to change the way that the world functions. Protection is the number one goal—protection from others is first. Next would be an infected person trying to protect others around them. Many asymptotic people have been passing particulates, which is why it is important for those infected or think they might be to not expose those around them to the possibility of infection.

The KF94 face masks fit comfortably around the nose and mouth. It includes a filtration feature that reduces exposure to other infectious diseases and from air pollution or smoke from fires. KF94 face masks are reusable and fluid resistant.

Interview with Award-Winning Landscape Photographer Artem Shestakov

0

USA, February 7, 2021 Artem Shestakov is an Ukrainian fine art photographer and artist, best known worldwide for his nature and landscape photography. In addition to the mastery of composition, one of the key features of Artem’s work that sets him apart from other photographers is the ability to capture the delicate colors of landscapes without overusing post-processing on his photos.

We were fortunate enough to talk to Artem personally and ask him a few questions.

1. What inspired you to take up landscape photography?

“I was inspired by the realization that photography is a subject of artistic creation. When I started photographing, I decided to approach this process as an art and present photography as a work of art. “

2. Which photo or project of yours do you feel the most satisfaction from?

“For me photography is art. My goal is to create artistic photographs. Consequently, the greatest satisfaction I get from works that express my vision of the scene not from works that only convey the actual subject of photography. I want my photos to convey my feelings, emotions, and not just what my camera can capture. ”

3. What is the most important advice for our readers to improve their landscape work?

“Focus on improving your artistic technical skills, rather than relying on purchasing new photographic equipment. Collect art, not cameras. The main limiting factor is you, not your camera, computer, or software used. Most beginner photographers have photographic equipment that far exceed their artistic and technical knowledge and skills. They do not need to buy better equipment, but to develop their own artistic taste, improve technical skills, as well as increase the level of personal interest and involvement in the photography process. “

4. Are there photographers who inspire you with their work?

“It may be a pretty long list, but the first lines are occupied by Peter Lik, David Yarrow, Charlie Waite, Joe Cornish, Carr Clifton, Sebastião Salgado, Chris Burkard, Michael Kenna, David Noton. ”

5. What kind of camera are you using?

“I want to start by saying that the most important thing to me is the personality of the photographer, his vision, inspiration and creativity in photography, rather than the camera he uses. Asking “which camera are you using?” Is the same as asking Leonardo da Vinci which brushes he uses or on which canvas he paints his paintings. Obviously, it is impossible to take a photograph without a camera. Of course, the means are important, but what has the greatest value is the artist’s personality and his perception of the world around him. Nevertheless, I will still answer your question. I use several Canon and Fuji cameras. I don’t think these accessories are much different from what most photographers use. What really matters is how you use them. ”

Latino Owned Businesses Are Looking for Alternatives to PPP and EIDL Funding

0

Unquestionably, PPP and EIDL funding has assisted many small businesses to keep their doors open. At the same time PPP and EIDL has not resolved the challenges that businesses continue to face.  Gil Zapata, CEO of Lendinero explains the challenges and how Latino-Owned businesses are looking for alternatives to PPP & EIDL funding.

What are the challenges to PPP & EIDL funding for businesses?
1. Many businesses have not been able to secure funding from these programs
2. Other businesses received far less than the amount they anticipated
3. For some businesses, the funding was not enough
4. Accountants and businesses were not prepared

While this applies to many small businesses, Latino-Owned businesses were not an exception to these hurdles.  In fact, they faced greater challenges.

Whatever the reason, there are Latino-owned businesses out there in need of funding that have not been served by the PPP or EIDL programs.  At the same time, businesses that did not receive enough funding. “ For instance, we have a customer that generates $500,000 in monthly revenues and expenses are approximately $470,000.  Between EIDL and PPP they received a little over $300,000.  While that may sound like a lot, it is not for a business with annual expenses of over $4 Million.  On the other hand, we have the same issue with businesses that generate far less per month,” states Mr. Zapata. That is why many Latino-Owned businesses are looking for alternative to PPP & EIDL funding.

What are the best alternatives to EIDL & PPP Loans?
1. The SBA 7(a) loan program
2. Online personal loans
3. Online business loans

SBA 7(a) Loans
The SBA 7(a) loan program has been one of the most traditional programs from Small Business Administration (SBA). These loans allow businesses to use the funds for numerous purposes.
The advantages of this program are the cost of capital and the repayment terms.  Within the 7a there is the standard 7a and the 7a small loan.  The differences are the loan amounts.  On the 7a the maximum loan amount is $5 Million and on the 7a small loan, the maximum is $350,000.
Businesses that apply for these loans must be prepared to provide a lot of financial documentation.  Also, many businesses who suffered declining revenues may not qualify.
Do not worry there are other alternatives.

Online Personal Loans
While personal loans are not business loans, many businesses have benefited from these types of loans.  Lendingclub.com, Prosper.com, and Bestegg.com have not discontinued funding during the pandemic.  These lenders are actively lending.  While their guidelines may have tightened up a little more, they are still funding.  The great benefit to obtain a personal loan from these online lenders is the processes.  Prior to the pandemic, you could obtain a personal loan within 1 to 5 business days.  Today, the process may be taking 3 to 10 business days.  That is relatively fast compared to a bank.  At the same time if you have exhausted PPP & EIDL funding or you were denied, this is an alternative.  A personal loan can be used for business purposes.

Online Business Loans
In 2020, lenders in the fintech space came to a standstill.  In the last quarter of 2020, many online lenders resume to lend.  Lendinero, has been helping Latino-Owned businesses with PPP & EIDL.  “Our core product has been online lending to Latino entrepreneurs when banking is not an option. More and more we are seeing Hispanic businesses seeking more capital via our core programs. I believe that after the 2nd quarter of 2021 this will be the only option for many businesses. History and financial markets are cyclical and repetitive. In 2008, we saw a similar trend in business lending,” states Gil Zapata.

While online lenders are typically more flexible in terms of their lending policies than the big banks, PPP and EIDL, this may be the only option for some businesses.  Lendinero indicates that in the fourth quarter of 2020, originations at their fintech company were 60% EIDL and PPP and 40% alternative funding options from Latino-Owned Businesses. Now, may be the time to turn to these alternatives.
