About ELIE TAHARI

For more than 40 years, Elie Tahari’s keen understanding of fashion and design has ensured him a unique position in the luxury world. The internationally-renowned brand has a global presence on five continents and is sold in over 600 stores in over 40 countries. The brand has expanded to include women’s shoes, sunglasses and accessories, and menswear and has come to define modern sophistication with the designers inspired collections of understated grace and elegance.

At the start of the 1970s, Elie Tahari emigrated from Israel to the United States and began working in New York City’s garment center while moonlighting at a boutique in Greenwich Village. After he succeeded in popularizing the tube top, Tahari began designing his eponymous label Tahari in 1973. In the following years, Elie Tahari opened his first boutique on Madison Avenue, posted the company’s first billboard in New York City, and held his first fashion show at Studio 54.

In the 1980s, Tahari expanded in the eighties, turning his attention to the tailored suit that helped define a decade. His first advertisements appeared in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

In 1989 his first shop in Bloomingdales NYC opened, followed by Saks Fifth Avenue, and Tahari was named one of Crain’s most successful 40 under 40.

In the 1990s, Elie Tahari began the decade with his first cover of Women’s Wear Daily featuring a Tahari wool suit highlighted as the season’s trend and is admitted to the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The brand moves into new headquarters in the Grace building on West 42nd Street and is now carried by all major department stores. Tahari initiated a significant expansion campaign including licensing and international sales.

Television Networks also started to take notice of the brand with pieces from the collection being showcased on Ally McBeal, The X files and Will & Grace. Tahari was the featured designer in the annual Macy’s Passport fashion show in Los Angeles, which helps to raise over 2 million dollars for AIDS research, and was invited to the White House to meet with President Clinton. In 1997 Tahari became the founding partner and creative director of Theory and designed his own label.

In 2002 the company name was changed from Tahari to Elie Tahari, and the designer purchased 510 Fifth Avenue, which became the brand’s design center. Tahari opened freestanding boutiques in Soho, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Boston, East Hampton’s Main Street, and Boca Raton, Florida.

The company continued its global expansion in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East and opened freestanding boutiques in Istanbul, Turkey, and Dubai, as well as US boutiques in Newport Beach, California, Washington, D.C., Dallas, and a pop-up store at 510 5th Avenue, named The Vault as well as the E-commerce site elietahari.com. To mark the brand’s 40th anniversary, Tahari created a capsule collection “Elie Tahari 1974,” which featured updated silhouettes from the brands four decades in fashion.

Mayor Bloomberg proclaimed September 4th, 2013 “Elie Tahari Day,” honoring his 40 years in business. Fashion Group International honored the designer with a Brand Vision award, and Tahari served as a guest judge on Project Runway All-Stars for three seasons. In 2014 the designer launched eyewear, home, and the Elie Tahari Sport collection and partnered with photographer Steven Klein to shoot the brand’s ad campaigns.

In 2020, he received the Pomegranate Award from the New York Sephardic Jewish Film Festival.

Featured Ep, ‘Again’ By Jyrice, Is Out Now And Available To Stream On All Major Streaming Platforms

0

Jyrice, also known as Steven J. Rogers, is an up and coming artist who burst onto the streaming scene in 2010. The Jacksonville born and raised songwriter has always had a natural affinity for music; performing in a number of singing competitions over the years. After serving in the Navy for eight years, Jyrice’s goal is to use his success in music to be “instrumental in helping artists be heard”. Although he receives creative inspiration from a number of styles, Jyrice combines a variety of compositional elements to form his unique sound.

To date, Jyrice has two singles and one EP in his online discography. Some of his most popular tracks include the likes of ‘Again’, amassing almost seventeen thousand streams, ‘In The Clouds’, gathering over five thousand seven hundred streams, and ‘FriendZone’, with over two thousand one hundred streams. With more than eight thousand six hundred regular monthly listeners on Spotify alone, there is no denying the fact that Jyrice has developed a dedicated following of loyal fans.

FEATURED RELEASE

Jyrice’s featured EP, ‘Again’ is out now and available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The EP consists of five tracks and lasts around nineteen minutes.

The title track, ‘Again’, lasts three minutes and sits at a steady 90bpm. The song was written about the “loneliness felt from an unhealthy relationship”. The single commences with a thirty-two second instrumental introduction that features an ambient piano progression and subtle percussion; setting the tone for the proceeding verse.

The vocal color is clean and emotive, seamlessly synchronising with the flow of the instrumental accompaniment. The addition of a harmonised backing vocal line provides a depth to the overall sound without detracting from the prominence of the melody. The combination of cinematic strings, a foundational piano and gentle percussion creates the perfect platform for the vocal line and makes the catchy hook all the more memorable. By the time this track draws to a close, you’ll find yourself humming along with the hook and in need of hitting that repeat button for another listen.

Although the EP is technically grouped under one genre classification, each track delivers a diverse range of compositional elements that showcase Jyrice’s songwriting talent; from the eclectic mix that features atmospherically effected vocals and ambient synth layers in ‘In The Clouds’, the authentic lyricism, memorable melodic progression and soulful performance of ‘FriendZone’, to the foundational percussion and the creatively panned guitar that sits perfectly in the mix of ‘I Want You’.

From the well balanced production and creative compositional arrangements, to the impressive vocal performance, fans of Jyrice, as well as those who appreciate new and creative music, will definitely want to hear this EP. Make sure you follow Jyrice on social media to keep up to date with upcoming releases and performances!

EX Russian Lawyer Talks About The Struggles She Went Through Living In and Leaving Russia

0

USA, February 1, 2021 Elena Bobkova, an ex-Russian lawyer and now author who left the harsh reality of Russia and moved to Australia and then to the USA reveals all in her new book.

The author who took the brave step to leave Russia and head to pastures new has written a book to explain her struggles. The book looks at what life was like in Russia and how she left Russia to move to Australia for a new and better life.

There are more than 145,934,462 people live in Russia. According to Rosstat federal statistics agency, they estimated 377,000 Russians left the country in 2017. However, according to The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, six times more Russians arrived in 2017 than Rosstat recorded. Elena Bobkova paints a true picture of what life was like living in Russia, which may explain why so many people are moving to the UK, and to the USA for a new life.

I sat down with Elena Bobkova to learn more about her life and her book Russian Lawyer, Australian Immigrant: A Moscow Mom’s Everyday Struggle for A Better Life.

1. Why have you decided now is the time to write about your life in Russia?
As soon as I continue to open the new world of English language and all the exciting details of etymology of words, similarity of idioms with Russian language, I was eager to translate my books to English. The only problem was to find a translator who will have English as native language and could keep my style of writing. I’ve tried so many translators and 3 years later I found one who was not only clicked as a soul mate but also was willing to go through re-editing through so many details of Russian traditions, idioms and superstitions to make it understandable and still funny for readers.

2. Your new book which is available on Amazon is called Russian Lawyer, Australian Immigrant: A Moscow Mom’s Everyday Struggle for A Better Life, what is the book about?
The book is about one and a half years of my life in Moscow, Russia. The time when we decided to move to another country. It also looks at why we did it and how hard it was to apply for the skilled migration visa. A big part in this book is about my son, he was 3 years old back then, so there are a lot of funny parenting moments.

3. We hear so many stories about Russia and how some Russian people believe freedom of speech is a luxury they don’t have; can you paint a picture of the real Russia?
Unfortunately, it’s true. It was quite bad when we decided to leave the country and now it has become even worse.

4. So, what was it like growing up in Russia?
There are a lot of things that surprised my colleagues which I never thought would be even interesting. I’m from Siberia, so my childhood is very different from those people who grew up at the same time in Moscow. The first time I saw and heard Western music or Hollywood movies was in 1990. But at the same time, I was really lucky to study in the Law School in Russia in 1993-1999. the only time when it was no censorship in the country, and we study the real law and history.

5. You were a lawyer in Russia, what made you decide to go down that career path?
I grew up on the local airfield and wanted to be an astronaut or test pilot. But when I was 12 years old, I was told that “girls are not accepted to any colleges” you can be an astronaut (cosmonaut) in those times only though the army. I did not want to go into the army. So, I decided to go to law school and defend my rights to be an astronaut. Down the road, I became a corporate lawyer and was defending in the court companies and businesses from the government (yes, it’s actually used to happen in Siberia, when you can go to court and win the case against government).

6. You left Russia and moved to Australia, why did you decide to do that?
We decided to leave because at some point it became clear that you are on your own, helpless, unprotected by law or by police (from police actually) and all social institutes including medical and education system became corrupted and censored. You can turn the TV off, but you cannot leave without proper medical or education system especially if you have kids. At the same time, the climate in Australia was so appealing.

7. How hard was it for you to settle into a new life in Australia?
Considering that I couldn’t speak and understand English and thought I’d have a full “reset” with my career and spent one month in hospital upon arrival it was… easy comparing to the settling in Moscow after relocation from Siberia. I was shocked how nice and friendly all the people were and the medical system with free translation services and friendly empathic people. It was shockingly different experience after Russia! I felt in love with Australia from first days and it’s still in my heart as my second homeland – just more warming and accepting.

8. Can you explain how different you found life in Australia compared to Russia?
The first thing that come into my mind and don’t take me as the most boring person – it’s taxes! Taxes in Australia is high, but you gladly pay it because you see where all money goes. We traveled a lot across the whole Australia, and it was strange to see nice roads in villages or in the countryside – far away from the city. When I started working as an auditor I was impressed with the reasonable rules towards small businesses, no bureaucracy, no corruption. I absolutely loved the Australian multiculturism: authentic Indian, Chinese, Japanese restaurants, different national community at school – we didn’t have that in Russia.

9. In your new book you talk about the struggles that you faced, can you share with me a couple of the topics that you cover?
The biggest struggle I’d say is the stress and pressure. You live in the survival mode all the time. If you have a full-time job (I was also a business partner in the consulting company), you have a small child and spend 4-5 hours in traffic each day – there is no energy for anything else. When we decided to move to Australia, we were well aware about that. The hardest part was to pass the English test (IELTS).

10. Do you believe we see the rea Russia on TV?
Depends on the news channel. There is a lot of censorship in Russia and affiliated by Russian government tv channels. But for example, the BBC and German channels are doing great work to highlight the real news from Russia. Most of uncensored news from Russia now is on Twitter or YouTube.

11. You cover an important topic in your book, and that is how the Russian legal system has many flaws, did it surprise you how different the Australian legal system was to Russia?
I was surprised that it was light and not fall as a heavy burden on the businesses. Now, working in America and in with a UK company, I am more impressed how people can influence the legislation system. How it’s open and transparent and all comments or improvements are welcome from anyone. People do not read the primary source of legislative acts because it’s boring, wordy and complicated, for me it’s like an interesting and exciting novel.

12. What would it take you to return to Russia?
I’m the person of the world, but I don’t think I’ll have enough motivation to return to Russia. My son, Mike (the half of the book is about him) grew up in Australia. He is 16 years old now and he considers himself as an Australian. it would be harder for him to live in Russia. He has a dream to become a NASA engineer and he is doing great at school going through all advanced classes with high marks. He speaks Russian, English and Spanish, so, I guess, we are staying in the US.

Russian Lawyer, Australian Immigrant: A Moscow Mom’s Everyday Struggle for A Better Life is available from Amazon in both Kindle and paperback formats.

World’s Most Expensive Photo! — I Met Jesus 5 Times This Year and He Named My Brand

0

One of the most powerful forces in all of society and, indeed, the entire world is the power of giving. It’s not only the act one does for others but the effect it has.

If 2020 taught us anything, it is that the power of connection and community is more important in our lives than we ever imagined and it is more critical now than ever before. It is evident that we as a global church community must come together to help one another during these trying times.

The new high fashion brand Rising Star, is coming together with several Christian charities to host an art auction for charity.

Now more than ever, it is important that we reconnect with Christ’s values and rid ourselves from worldliness. We must realize the beauty of the church.

It is just that spirit, the overwhelming truth and beauty of the church community that inspired Rising Star creative director, James Dennis, to sell the “World’s Most Expensive Photo”, helping kickstart the year for Rising Star and its many creative endeavors.

An emerging force on the scene, the young creative director used his experiences and promises from Jesus himself, to instill the courage needed to perform such a feat. The director is planning on releasing the backstory of his experiences. To confirm the originality of the idea, the brand will also be auctioning the “World’s Most Expensive Screenshot”, a screenshot of the photo’s first public announcement.

The photograph, part of a collection titled “I Met Jesus 5 Times This Year and He Named My Brand,” is called Church Grounds and, as the name implies, it depicts a parochial, rural church with contrasting whites and greens making it appear both as a watercolor painting and a still photograph at the same time. Taken by photographer Brandon Nelson, the two young creatives are excited to be the first fashion brand to ever sell something of this nature.

Going for an asking price of $USD 32 million, the proceeds are going towards various charitable works throughout 2021.The auction is being hosted in the SoHo section of Manhattan, a premier capital for art and fashion. The funds will be donated to parochial schools, church communities and Christian libraries in Israel, West Africa, South America and Asia.

It is hoped that, through the sale of this photograph and the proceeds it brings, the organization can better spread the message of Jesus Christ throughout the world and share how his teachings can change lives and communities. Because of its aspirational goals, the work being undertaken for Rising Star is described as an honor and a true calling. For connoisseurs of art and those that love to support a good cause, information on the SoHo auction will be available throughout the next few weeks.

Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute Founder Dr. Artika R. Tyner Featured on Comcast/NBCUniversal Social Justice Series

0

St. Paul, MN – Jan. 29, 2021 – Dr. Artika R. Tyner, founder of the non-profit organization Planting People Growing Justice™ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI), is an advocate for children and social justice in all its many forms. She was recently featured on a Comcast/NBC Universal presentation about the school-to-prison pipeline (SPP).

The program was part of the virtual Social Justice Speakers Series being conducted by Comcast/NBCUniversal in partnership with the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs. Through the series, individuals learn how to be an active ally, anti-racist, and become involved in community programs.

“All families are impacted by the school-to-prison pipeline,” said Tyner. “It has devastating effects on our children. You can change their future by getting involved. Are you contributing to the cycle or are you working to change your school’s policies and guidelines?”

Tyner speaks eloquently and with authority about the school-to-prison pipeline. It’s a system that disproportionately affects minors and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds. Educational inequality, zero tolerance policies, and increasingly harsh disciplinary penalties for even minor infractions have effectively created a situation in which young people are criminalized within the educational system, eventually leading to mass incarceration.

“Schools and prison should never be in the same sentence; however, the school-to-prison pipeline is pervasive and detrimental to the future of our youth,” said Tyner.

The school-to-prison pipeline has lasting effects on all community members, not just those who have children that enter the juvenile detention system. Children trapped in the SPP system often go on to serve time in jail or prison as young adults, thereby continuing the cycle of mass incarceration. This limits their ability to excel academically, reach their career aspirations, and serve in the community.

Schools and prisons are two very separate institutions, but for some children it is a direct link. Tyner explains how the SPP functions in today’s educational system. She provides viewers with ways to prevent, challenge, and change the way children are disciplined at school to break the cycle.

Tyner speaks with passion, conviction and provides proven data about the school-to-prison pipeline and its effect on society as a whole. Individuals can view the video online or download it. Further discussion about this topic, racism, and similar topics can be found at #SJSSBeyondTheHashtag, #SchoolToPrisonPipeline, and #RacialJustice. The school-to-prison pipeline is real and sets children on a no-win path, while robbing the nation of the rich contributions possible by people of color and the economically disadvantaged.

Basket Brno Next Generation Is Eyeing Top Tournament Angt

0

On December 27, 2020, this year’s edition of top European junior competition Adidas Next Generation Tournament (ANGT), kicked off in Valencia, Spain. It was the first event of three editions this year, where as many as 24 basketball teams will play its way to the final tournament that will take place at the same venue as Euroleague Final 4, in Cologne (Germany).

One of the teams to play is also a young team and project from Basket Brno, which makes its debut in Munich.

Next Generation is a collection of top talent in the city of Brno, where most of the players are also on the roster of Czech Republic national team U18. This group of youth talent, coached by Lubos Barton, is waiting with anticipation for a new date of their tournament, since the pandemic Covid situation in Germany did not allow the tournament take place in January.

Coach Lubos Barton is convinced that his team will be ready for the tournament and will use this platform to get better as a team and as individuals. Many players are first-year juniors, and this should be a great opportunity for them to grow and get a priceless experience. Not many players get a chance to play against teams like Real Madrid, Zalgiris Kaunas or Bayern Munich. There will be also other teams with great talent, such as Zaragoza, Promitheas and Stellazzurra from Rome.

GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE NEXT GENERATION PROJECT

This ambitious project that was created just this last spring wants to propel top young players into professional ranks in the city of Brno. To show that it is not only about goals and ambitions, already three members of Next Generation team played meaningful minutes in KNBL, top men’s division in the Czech Republic.

Coach Barton, who is in charge of the project and also serves as one of the assistants on the men’s team, thinks that this is only the beginning. The platform is in place and the connection between the youth team and the senior team is great. The founder of the project, and the head coach of Basket Brno men’s team, Lubomir Ruzicka, is known to be able to develop young players and give them opportunity.

„The support for the players is total, we provide them with much needed nutrition plan, strength and conditioning program, we mentor them on and off the floor. I hope that the players can feel this support from us, and they give as their maximum effort. To have a great attitude is one of the main pilars of our program“, added coach Barton, who moved to Brno from Spanish FC Barcelona youth section.

OUR YOUNG TALENT

Maybe the most important and also the most difficult thing in sports is to develop talent. Once we select and recruit these individuals, the players that in our eyes have potential to be professionals, we start the whole process of mentoring them and giving them maximum support on and off the floor. We should mention that all our players are committed to do well in school, and if in any case of shortcomings, basketball goes to the side. We are still aware that education is the most important part of any young men’s life and future.

„Already since day one, players are reminded that their talent brought them here but it is already not enough. They have to show up every day with energy, passion, great attitude and hunger to get better and work hard. We take the invitation for the ANGT as a great motivation to keep on working and getting better“, concluded Barton.
