13 GCC Nationals Named Among the World’s Top 1% of Scientists

The names of 13 Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC, or Arab Gulf Countries) researchers have been listed among the top 1% of scientists in a global list compiled by the prestigious Stanford University. The US-based university has analyzed research data from the mid-1990s through to 2019, covering millions of scientists in all fields of study. In October 2020 they released a list that represents the top 1% of the most influential scientists in various disciplines. The data of the study, Ioannidis JPA, Boyack KW, Baas J (2020) Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators. PLoS Biol 18(10): e3000918. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pbio.3000918 , mentioned the names of 13 professors from GCC countries who were selected through an objective world-class assessment based on several very rigorous criteria including their articles’ worldwide research impact.

The published list of scientists included 9 scientists from Saudi Arabia (Asiri, Abdullah M.; Alothman, Zeid; Alkuraya, Fowzan S.; Al-Tawfiq, Jaffar A.; Al-Sulaiman, F. A.; Alsaedi, Ahmed; Al-Ghamdi, A. A.; El-Hazmi, Malak; Al-Amoudi, Omar S.B.) as well as 1 scientist from each of the following countries: UAE (Alsharhan, A. S.), Bahrain (Musaiger, Abdulrahman), Qatar (Elmgarmed, Ahmed), and Kuwait (Aladwani, Adel). These scientists have published an average of 20 articles per year over the period that was examined, with Alsaedi, Ahmed of King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia releasing 87 articles per year in the fields of Mechanical engineering and Metal organic materials.

Research areas studied by these highly rated scientists include Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Genetics & Heredity, Microbiology, Energy, Applied Physics, General and Internal Medicine, Building and Construction, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Information Systems. The scientists are affiliated with the following institutions: King Abdulaziz University, King Faisal Specialist Hospital, Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, King Fahd Univ. of Petroleum & Minerals, and King Saud University Medical College in Saudi Arabia as well as Middle East Geological and Enviro. Est. in UAE, Arab Centre for Nutrition in Bahrain, Qatar Computing Research Institute in Qatar, and Kuwait University.

Of note is that these prominent 13 researchers represent only 0.044% of all GCC researchers and close to 0.007% of total researchers in Arab countries.

RICHARDSON, TX – November 19, 2020 – In 2020, when thousands of people moved to studying and working remotely from home, Eric Benavides, a home builder and entrepreneur, envisioned a space where people could work from the convenience and safety of their backyards. After several prototypes, he applied for a patent to protect his unique concepts. His turnkey DIY shed kits are easy enough for most homeowners to install and include a step-by-step assembly guide and video for instructions.

Patent – Pending Design and Assembly

The Backyard Workroom shed is currently patent-pending for its innovative design features and assembly processes. From a steel foundation and an integrated roof system to pre-wired electrical and unique slide-in wall panels, his factory-made modular sheds are unique. The numbered assembly process is easy to install and satisfies the do-it-yourselfer at an affordable price. The backyard shed kits are prefabricated with streamlined efficiency, so the savings are passed directly to the consumer.

“Most prefab studio rooms are complicated, expensive, and require an expert to install,” said Benavides. “I wanted to offer a simple turnkey solution that homeowners could assemble in a few hours.”

Assembly and Delivery

The prefab shed offers three styles, four color schemes and six door colors customers can select online. The shed’s LEGO-like design is constructed from plywood and steel with innovative wall and corner panels that make assembly easy. To expand the rooms to a larger size, homeowners simply add more components. Add-on features include an additional window and deck.

Parts for the kit are pre-numbered, stacked in crates and delivered to the driveway, then hand-carried to the back yard. The DIY kit can be assembled in a few hours with the help of four people and a hand crank lift. No carpentry or electrical skills are needed. The factory-made modular sheds include finished walls and flooring, doors, windows, light fixtures, keyed lock sets and AC/heater units. The shed is pre-wired with recessed outlets and USB ports. It is powered by plugging in an extension cord.

Permits and HOAs

Black role models for future generations provides theme for inspired creative project

 

LOS ANGELES— November 18, 2020 — Today, champions of comprehensive African American education launched a GoFundMe campaign for the animated musical film series, Black Heroes Matter. The series is meant to instill a sense of pride, awareness and leadership in global black culture. One of the goals is to highlight and expand upon inspirational contributions of African American forefathers and foremothers.

 

The initiative is led by Marjorie Josaphat, an educator and human resources expert. Josaphat assembled a creative and talented team to establish the curriculum for an authentic look at black education which is representative of the entire black experience. The vision of expanding upon teaching the usual few examples of black history, if taught at all. Black Heroes Matter is set to make history less boring and more memorable with hip music, graphics and compelling stories.

 

According to Josaphat, “We are looking to raise $100,000 for the full series of animated short musicals. The Black Heroes Matter series will include ten musicals with fun-yet-powerful messages from the glorious history of African American heroes. Looking at the past opens a door to the future. Our core mission is to teach. The focus is on children, but every man, woman and child in America will hear the message and integrate the empowering take-aways and stories. Children will be singing the theme songs and will remember these lessons.”

 

The project is timely. As protests against racism and police brutality sweep the nation, it is now more important than ever to highlight the positive aspects of Black History and inspire the young generations. “Let’s make Black History a year-long subject rather than one month in February!” she added.

 

The project’s theme, “Black Role Models for The Future Generations,” is a movement—the beginning of the commitment to highlight diverse groups and people of color. The fundraising project is challenging and the GoFundMe campaign hopes to raise considerable funds for every aspect of producing this worthwhile film series.
