CELFULL suggests method for NMN to boost growth of blood vessels

CELFULL found that the compound, which re-activates longevity-linked proteins called sirtuins, promotes the growth of blood vessels and muscle, boosting the endurance of elderly mice by up to 80 percent.
 

As we get older, our endurance declines, in part because our blood vessels lose some of their capacity to deliver oxygen and nutrients to muscle tissue. An MIT-led research team has now found that it can reverse this age-related endurance loss in mice by treating them with a compound that promotes new blood vessel growth.

The researchers also found that SIRT1 activity in endothelial cells is critical for the beneficial effects of exercise in young mice. In mice, exercise generally stimulates growth of new blood vessels and boosts muscle mass. However, when the researchers knocked out SIRT1 in endothelial cells of 10-month-old mice, then put them on a four-week treadmill running program, they found that the exercise did not produce the same gains seen in normal 10-month-old mice on the same training plan.

If validated in humans, the findings would suggest that boosting sirtuin levels may help older people retain their muscle mass with exercise. Studies in humans have shown that age-related muscle loss can be partially staved off with exercise, especially weight training.

What this paper would suggest is that you may actually be able to rescue muscle mass in an aging population by this kind of intervention with an NAD precursor.

PPGJLI’s 4th Annual Community Celebration will be Held Virtually

St. Paul, MN – Oct. 19, 2020 – Dr. Artika Tyner, founder of the non-profit organization Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute (PPGJLI), announced that its 4th Annual Community Celebration will be held virtually this year in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fundraising event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 from 2-3 p.m. and the 2020 Excellence in Education Awards will be presented.

“We focus on helping kids discover their true potential and to give them the confidence and leadership skills needed to make a difference in their community,” said Tyner. “We believe that anyone can be a leader, no matter their age, nor title. We have donated over 3,500 books to kids hailing from St. Paul, Minnesota, all the way to Accra, Ghana and beyond. We have inspired 5,000 students with our school visits and 20,000 youth through our virtual readings. Our goal is to reach 100,000 kids and help them become better youth leaders today so they can lead us tomorrow.”

The PPGJLI fundraising goal this year is $15,000. To donate online, individuals and businesses can make a contribution in any amount. A one-time or monthly donation can be made and contributors can choose to remain anonymous if they desire. Contributors can also add a dedication.

One of the most highly anticipated activities at the PPGJLI Community Celebration is the announcement of the Excellence in Education Awards. The program provides a platform for addressing emotional issues, setting goals, using facts to make informed and independent decisions, and traveling nationally and internationally.

The Global Mamas will be honored for their contributions to the empowerment and advancement of women and children in Ghana. The group sponsored 248 children in 2019 to attend school. Many of the members’ children are now working on advanced degrees or have graduated and entered the workforce.

The PPGJLI’s 4th Annual Community Celebration is an opportunity to honor individuals and organizations that are making a difference in the lives of children locally and around the world. My Experience with Underwater Cowboy

– Learning to Scuba Dive

I have always wanted to learn how to scuba dive but have put off taking classes over the years due to the cost and amount of time it takes.  Well, I finally went ahead and signed up for the PADI Open Water Diver certification class through Underwater Cowboy so that I could do some diving on a Western Caribbean cruise that I was taking this coming up summer.  The experience was a joy the whole way through.

I live in New Jersey and knew I had a limited amount of time in Miami so I utilized the PADI eLearning feature, where you can do all of your course work online! Although each module takes between 30-40 minutes, they are easy to follow and are packed with fun little videos.  The eLearning course allows you to learn on your own time; I took about three weeks to slowly go through the videos and take the tests.

The day before my classes with Underwater Cowboy, I stopped into the dive shop he works with to buy a mask (specially fitted for me), fins, a wetsuit, and a snorkel.  Everyone at the shop was extremely helpful and I even managed to buy everything I wanted in pink!  Classes begin bright in early but are still a joy in the warm Florida sun.

The first two days we headed down to the confined water area to learn the basics of scuba diving.  My instructor, Capt. Dan was wonderful and did a great job making me feel calm while learning to breathe underwater.  The third day of class we headed off to open water for two shore dives.  What an experience! I was able to see lots of sea urchins, starfish, and pretty shells.  It was a perfect environment for my first dives out in the open water.  The fourth and final day of class was by far the most exciting! We boarded a boat and jetted off to dive two different sites.  Both dives were exhilarating. The instructor thought me so well – and I was able to dive in Cozumel and Isla Roatan when I was on my Caribbean cruise.
