Novathreads, sometimes called a PDO thread lift, work as a combination of manual tissue structure lift and collagen stimulating fibers. Made of polydioxanone, which is an absorbable polymer with a barbed texture, Novathreads are inserted shallowly into the dermal layer of the face via a tiny catheter in a mesh pattern. The tiny barbs in the threads grasp the skin to lift and suspend it into a more youthful contour. This results in support that is immediately visible for improving the youthful lines and shape of the patient’s face and symmetry. Over time, the polydioxanone kickstarts the body’s collagen production, so as the threads are absorbed, they leave in their place a scaffolding of collagen to hold the improved shape naturally.
