Serial Entrepreneur Montina Young Saluted by CNote Investment Agency

Serial entrepreneur Montina Young and her stunning success story and rise in the business ranks of the nation is the focus of a post at CNote, an investment and financial resource agency based in California.

Success stories about going from homeless to turning a million dollars in revenue are extremely rare. Ms. Young is one of those. The CNote story covers her background with just enough detail to make it clear she was not handed anything. She worked for everything she has.

The writer then goes through Ms. Young’s development as a business woman to an industry leader. A key part of this steady rise was bolstered by a partnership with some Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) which passed along critical knowledge with hands-on training.

From the article: “I love, love, love, CDFIs,” she said. “CDFIs educate you about the loans you’re taking out, they look at your business plan, and they want to grow and scale with your business. They’re truly phenomenal.”

These experiences in turn led her to become a mentor to other BIPOC entrepreneurs. As CNote puts it, “At CNote, we consider ourselves to be the CDFI industry’s biggest cheerleader. Then we met Montina Young.”

“Mentoring is the reason I am where I am today. With the support I had from people who actually cared about me and my vision — well, I don’t know,” she said. “Now, I give back to help other people who wanted to achieve their dreams and their goals. I am living proof it is possible.”

More importantly, she said she wants people to know they have someone who cares and will help.

“It is said people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. I care. I’ll prove it. Most importantly, You. Can. Do. It. You can. I know it. You just need someone to help you get started the right way,” she said.

She paused for a moment to think.

“Here. This is a great example. When you were a baby and learning to walk, someone held your hand to keep you from falling. Soon, you let go of that hand to walk on your own. You fell, but that person was right there to pick you up and put you back on your feet,” she said. “Even Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest sprinter, had help learning to walk. I’m helping people, like you, learn how to walk so you can become a marathon runner some day.”
