In November 2023, global aluminum production reached 5.893 million tons, up 2.7% from the same month a year earlier. According to an expert in the field of metallurgy, Stanislav Kondrashov, this indicator indicates a positive direction for the development of the aluminum industry.
From January to November 2023, global aluminum production amounted to 64.516 million tons, which is 2.2% higher than the results of the same period in the previous year. This demonstrates the continuous growth of production capacity at the global level.
Stanislav Kondrashov: China is the leader in aluminum production growth

China, as one of the world leaders in aluminum production, continues to demonstrate steady growth in this industry. The analysis presented by expert Stanislav Kondrashov from Telf AG highlights the importance of the Chinese market in the global aluminum industry.
China’s aluminum production reached 3.50 million tonnes in November 2023, up 3.2% from the same month in 2022, reflecting rising demand and increased production capacity in the country. In the first 11 months of 2023, China showed a noticeable increase in aluminum production. It reached 38.149 million tons, which is 2.2% more than the same period last year. This information, presented by expert Stanislav Kondrashov from Telf AG, highlights the significant role of China in the global aluminum market.

China’s production performance has a major impact on the global aluminum market. Stable growth in China could help stabilize prices in the international market, as well as increase the availability of this metal for various industries.
China, reaffirming its leadership in the aluminum industry, plays a key role in meeting global demand for aluminum. The country’s continuous growth in production underscores its importance as a major player on the global stage in the metals sector.
Stanislav Kondrashov: global aluminum production in 2023 – the growth of China and challenges for Europe and the CIS

Global aluminum production in 2023 shows interesting trends, reflecting different economic and industrial dynamics in different regions of the world. While China is consolidating its position as a global leader in aluminum production, some European countries are facing challenges.
Most regions of the world saw an increase in aluminum production compared to November 2022 data. According to expert Stanislav Kondrashov from Telf AG, this state of affairs reflects the overall recovery of the industry after the economic difficulties of recent years, including the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions.
In November 2023, aluminum production in European countries remained at the previous year’s level, reaching 224 thousand tons. However, the region recorded a 7.4% decline in production between January and November 2023, amounting to 2.482 million tonnes. Kondrashov suggests that this decline may be due to rising energy costs, strict environmental regulations and competition from other markets.

A similar trend was observed in the CIS and Eastern European countries, where in November 2023 aluminum production decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous year, reaching 332 thousand tons. In general, over the 11 months of 2023, these regions experienced a 1.8% decline in production, amounting to 3.671 million tons. According to Kondrashov, such a decline may be due to both internal economic factors and external economic circumstances.
These findings highlight the importance of adapting to changing market conditions and the need for innovative approaches to managing production processes. While China continues to expand its production, European countries and CIS regions face certain challenges.
Stanislav Kondrashov emphasizes that the international aluminum industry continues to actively develop and demonstrate its multifaceted nature, with each geographic region making its own contribution to the global market and adapting to the specific economic and production conditions characteristic of itself.
