The Formerly Incarcerated People’s Performance Project Presents The World Premiere Of Their Workshop And Announces Fall Festival Dates

WORKSHOP JUNE 25 – JUNE 26, 2021

FALL FESTIVAL OCTOBER 15 – 16 & OCTOBER 22 – 23, 2021

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA – May 31, 2021 – The Formerly Incarcerated People’s Performance Project (FIPPP) announces production details for its summer workshop. Directed and produced by Mark Kenward, with co-direction by Rebecca Fisher and Wayne Harris, the workshop will debut at PianoFight Oakland at 8 pm on June 25 and 26. Due to Covid-19 precautions, the June workshop will be open to invited guests with a limited number of free tickets available to the public. The full fall festival will take place on October 15-16 and October 22-23, 2021.

The program features solo performances by Tony Cyprien, Freddy Lee Johnson, Pamela Ann Keane, Pearl Louise, Pastor Ronnie Muniz, and Al Sasser. Each performance was crafted using improvisation and storytelling techniques and each performer brings their own unique experience of circumstance, heartache, learning, and redemption to the stage in their own voice. With the pressing issues of mass incarceration, solitary confinement, reentry, and justice reform on both the local and national agendas, these stories of incarceration and reinvention give an invaluable insight into the conditions in prison, the post-prison experience, and life behind bars for the people who serve time and their families that serve along with them.

FIPPP is also pleased to be partnering with the Rising Voices program at Community Works West, to present the voices of young women (age 18-to-25) who have been justice-involved. FIPPP will culminate with a festival on October 15 – 16 & OCTOBER 22 – 23, 2021. This project is funded by private donations and in part by a Theater Bay Area CA$H grant.
