Vokal Media is partnering with Who Needs Sleep for the 2nd Annual 36-hour variety telethon to fight cancer. The telethon is a live stream of music, comedy performances, game shows, celebrity and athlete interviews, and special in-studio surprises.
Who Needs Sleep will stream live for 36 straight hours on Vokalnow.com from 8:00 am Saturday, September 1st until 8:00 pm Sunday, September 2nd, 2018.
Proceeds from the telethon benefit Cancer Support Community North Texas, and the hematology and oncology wards of Cook Children’s Hospital of Fort Worth.
To help in the fight against cancer go to whoneedssleep.org and donate money, bid on auction items, or purchasing studio tickets to attend the event.
Who needs sleep is a non-profit corporation and the brainchild of Devin Pike. Pike is a two-time cancer survivor and has been in broadcasting and entertainment reporting since 1981. He can currently be heard on the FuzzBox music stream on Vokalnow.com. He organized the first Who Needs Sleep telethon event in 2017, less than a month after his final cancer treatment. “A charity telethon, held on Labor Day Weekend, is a time-honored tradition that I have long wanted to be a part of,” said Pike. “I’d prefer for people to open their hearts and wallets without bribery, but I’m more than willing to assemble a world-class show to prime the pump.”
For a list of some of the scheduled performances for the 36-hour stream go to whoneedssleep.org.
Vokal’s Chief Content Officer Ted Price said, “We are honored to lend our technology and our talent to such a worthy cause. We are thankful to be a part of the Who Needs Sleep mission to help others.”
