The awards will be presented at the Grammy Awards ceremony on February 10, 2019.
“Bomb Pop” has been getting heavy airplay on college radio around the country and rave reviews around the world. Here is a sample of the recent press for Hawk “Bomb Pop”:
Magnet Magazine premieres Hawk “Bomb Pop”
“Do yourself a big favor and check this out right now before it explodes.”
No Depression Magazine (under Led Zeppelinand Bruce Springsteen):
“The upbeat, richly textured Bomb Pop—which seems heavily influenced by 60s pop rock, especially the Beatles and psychedelia-delivers 10 impossible-to-resist bursts of pure ear candy.”
Cover of Glide Magazine:
“Today Glide is excited to premiere “Allison’s Gone”, a song that brings to mind acts like Old 97’s, Elvis Costello, and Big Star, with a punchy beat, catchy chorus, and plenty of jangly guitar shredding. With its jubilant and bouncy organ, the song feels like it could be a moptop 60s pop number with the right amount of sunny psychedelia and garage rock defiance to kick it into its own realm.”
The Big Takeover Magazine:
““the crunch of AC/DC, the swagger of the Stones, and the melodies of Tom Petty”…”Today The Big Takeover is pleased to premiere the sun-drenched, classic power-pop of “Listen Like Thieves”, a fantastic driving-with-the-top-down, super-catchy guitar gem for the spring and summer months”
Innocent Words Magazine review:
“the 10 tracks on ‘Bomb Pop’ are rooted in power pop greatness, but the band, with its long line of experiences, adds in the subtleties of gritty 70s rock akin to the Rolling Stones while penning Tom Petty-style melodies. Hawkins’ songwriting is clever, Bob-Dylan-inspired at times and very smart. There isn’t a single misstep on this album. You get Stringfellow’s Posies influence mixed with Louris’ Jayhawks tones, and it’s absolutely sublime. Hawk’s ‘Bomb Pop’ could very well be the surprise hit of the year.”
“Hawk combines elements of 60’s and 70’s classic rock with a power pop sound to create music that has been described as containing “the swagger of the Stones and the melodies of Tom Petty. ” We find that description on point. This is one of our favorite retro albums this year. Get it.” –LAmusiccritic.com
