BookABuilderUK.com just announced the appointment of Gavin Dutton, former Managing Director of Checkatrade.com.

The news comes at a pivotal time for the ‘home services’ giant, as they prepare to disrupt the market with the launch of a game-changing new product.

Boasting a huge directory of UK tradesmen across all specialisms, BookABuilderUK has earned an excellent reputation for successfully helping thousands of homeowners and businesses, by constantly improving the systems used to match customers with the most suitable professionals for their jobs.

With the imminent launch of ‘SafePay’ customers and contractors will be offered the added protection of a centralised system that holds and manages agreed sums of money that will only be released on satisfaction of works completed, acting as a mediator that protects both parties from all too common payment or quality issues.

Bradley Jarvis (CEO – BookABuilderUK.com) said “I am extremely pleased with the direction that the business is going; Gavin is a great strategic addition to our team. We are the first business in the home services marketplace to provide an end-to-end escrow facility using the latest financial technology. The flaw with “Checking” and “Vetting” websites is that when there is a dispute with a job or a payment there isn’t much support given to either the homeowner or the tradesmen. It is also increasingly difficult to know who to trust when “Review’ based services also have the potential for false or misleading information – we are going to change that with our new product SafePay”

Gavin brings many years of relevant industry experience. He worked at Checkatrade as MD for over 8 years, responsible for developing the company into a nationally recognisable brand. Keen to remain in the home services market and most impressed by the business model and plans Book A Builder held, he decided to join the team.

Gavin said “I’m delighted to join Book A Builder, it’s a brand that has huge potential and great ambition in this industry.

My involvement with Checkatrade was becoming less and less, and after meeting Brad I became much more excited by the Book A Builder plans and their business model.

I’m really impressed by the value they create for their members and the customer service ethos they hold. These things are really important to me.

I’m really confident in the SafePay initiative. It’s what our marketplace needs. I truly believe it will make a positive impact bringing an enhanced level of protection and support to many tradespeople and customers trying to find a builder or tradesman.

I can’t wait to get started and am really looking forward to the journey ahead”.
