Singer-songwriter Chel Hill had the honor of being selected by the Los Angeles Chapter of the Recording Academy to participate in an intimate Craft Session during the first weekend of Coachella, in Palm Springs. The event provided emerging artists and writers an opportunity to interact with a panel of Grammy nominated and winning writers and producers. Participants shared original songs for panelists’ critiques.
“I’m grateful that the Recording Academy and hosts, who welcomed us into their home, gave us this opportunity to connect with our community,” said Hill.
Hill said it was motivating to hear directly from the panelists, and from fellow attendees who are going through the same challenges as writers and artists, each persevering to find their own version of success.
“The industry is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, and deals that can leave already starving artists and writers struggling to survive. It is refreshing to connect with people willing to nurture and support talent in ways that can lead to success,” Chel explained.
The panelists acknowledged that working in the music industry can be tough and reminded attendees that there’s always a higher power that has your back. It’s about knowing who you are, what you stand for, and not giving up on yourself or your craft. You can read more about the Craft Session at Grammy.com.
Chel Hill has earned writing and vocal credits on several collaborative music projects, including two albums that reached #1 on the World Billboard Charts and Billboard Alternative Charts (the Fx album Pink Tape, and the Issues album Headspace).
Her songs have been synced on NBC’s Today Show, the CW Network, TV One and more.
