The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited, better known as IFFCO, has recently launched a new app. The iMandi app is a mob application and mainly targets farmers in India, answering their needs for survival as well their cultural needs.
A well-known figure in the country’s news, the MD of IFFCO, Dr US Awasthi is famous for his efforts towards the modernization of the Indian fertilizer and agricultural industry. Working towards the betterment of the Indian farmers, the iMandi app is just another step planned by the IFFCO cooperative under Dr US Awasthi’s tutelage. This app was launched in Haryana by the IFFCO Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar, who extoled the app’s features, giving special mention to the fact that the iMandi app is to act as a one stop app for Indian farmers. On this app, they can order agri stuff at discounts, visit the forum to discuss agri-related issues, and even listen to some songs if they desire.
Under the guidance of Dr US Awasthi, IFFCO had assigned the development of this app to a Singapore company. The app is also being promoted by the Venture Capitalist, Mr B K Agrawal. To begin with, the app offers about six facilities. However, future plans include introducing even more features, including the ability to buy produce from the farmers directly, supplying farmers with the agri products they need on credit, as well as introducing TV channels for them to choose from.

One of the prize winning features of the iMandi app is said to be its “Gyan Bhandar”. This feature basically refers to a database that can be accessed via the app and is a massive store house of agri-related knowledge that might prove to be very beneficial for the farmers and for anyone interested in farming.
Another one of IFFCO’s offerings is the IFFCO Bazar app, which provides a single digital platform to bring together the IFFCO and group companies and consumers as well as different societies for communication and commerce, and is available in 10 regional languages.
