Calgary, Alberta – July 4, 2019 – Harness Biotech would like to congratulate McLain Ward with HH Azur and Contagious on their phenomenal 1- 2 performance in the Canadian Utilities Cup at the Pan American Tournament in Spruce Meadows Alberta.

The Canadian Utilities Cup 1.55m was the only qualifier for the Pan American Grand Prix, presented by Rolex. Eighty-one horse-and-athlete combinations stepped up to take on FEI Course Designer Alan Wade’s (IRL) technical track in hopes of earning their spot.
Sixteen combinations were able to jump the first round of competition with no faults and advance to the jump off. Three riders, McLain Ward (USA), Pieter Clemens (BEL) and Mario Deslauriers (CAN) each carried two mounts into the jump off looking increase their odds of making it to the winner’s circle.
The pressure was on in the jump of with many riders pulling a rail in an attempt to post the fastest time. Ward’s first mount, Contagious, was fast and clear with a time of 42.58 seconds taking him to the top of the leaderboard. Second last in the jump off, Ward came in with his second ride, Olympic mount HH Azur. He bested his own time by 1.52 seconds to secure a first and second place finish.
McLain Ward and HH Azur have been using Velocity™ since January of this year with incredible results.
“Velocity has dramatically helped my horses recovery and performance, and has become part of our daily routine” – McLain Ward, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist.
“Azur got hurt last year; she tore a muscle in her back. It was a slow process coming back, getting her back into shape; we heard about the Velocity gel in January and started using it right away. We saw a dramatic change in recovery time and overall performance, that’s what sold it for us and we started using it on all our horses daily.” – Lee McKeever, McLain Ward’s Barn Manager.
The Harness Biotech Team would like to wish McLain Ward and team continued success through this weeks North American Tournament at Spruce Meadows and at their next tournament – The World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany, July 12th – 21st.
“The effects and results from the use of Velocity speak for themselves. We have some of the best riders, barn managers and horses in the world using our product on a daily basis, and I believe that speaks directly to how we are influencing the industry and helping the overall soundness and wellness of these high performance athletes.” – Ryan Patterson, Harness VP Equine Business Development.
