NASHVILLE, Tenn. – There are real iron men and women out there and Mark Henes is one of them. He is touring to promote his upcoming album Crystallized Reflections and to raise awareness about Iron Overload disorders by donating 10% of his earnings from this album to a charity such as the Iron Disorders Institute (www.hemochromatosis.org/). A national non-profit organization dedicated to informing the public about iron disorders like hereditary hemochromatosis or iron overload.
Â
Giving blood can allow the body to move iron from organs that may not only save a life, but reduce the risk of other illnesses. Because iron overload is a metabolic disorder that causes the body to store too much iron in the organs; specifically heart, liver and joints. This can cause diabetes, arthritis, heart failure, and other illnesses to occur prematurely.
