Studio Will Create Immersive Experiences For Film, Sports And Entertainment Properties
LOS ANGELES-MC² today announced the hiring of Richard Sears as Executive Creative Director and Melissa Beery as Senior Creative Producer for its new Experiential Studio which will service film studios, television networks, brands and agencies. Richard Sears will head the studio and Melissa Beery will oversee all creative production in the Los Angeles office. Experiential Studio’s mission is to provide a one-stop-shop of immersive experiences including story-based activations, production, installation, interactive content, AR/VR, gaming, technology and theming.
The entertainment and sports focused Experiential Studio will expand the presence of MC², a leading experiential marketing agency that works with global brands including Canon, Samsung, John Deere, General Electric, Toyota, Motorola, Bloomberg and Volvo.
“Unlike a television commercial or a social media ad, an experiential activation has the ability to genuinely immerse an audience within a story and connect on an emotional level,” said David Kuznick, COO of MC². “We have seen the shift firsthand with corporate brands and are now eager to lead the evolution of studio marketing.”
Most recently, Sears has spent the last 3 years as Senior Creative Director at Victory Hill, working with Marvel Studios (Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.) and Hasbro (Transformers: Autobots Alliance) on large scale experiential and immersive events. He began his career as a director of ad campaigns and films after winning the Short Film award at the Cannes Film Festival. Later, he went on to create and direct 360 branding campaigns for Nissan, University of Phoenix and CITGO as well as cross-promo campaigns with Paramount, Sony, and Universal.
“We are extremely pleased to have Richard leading the Experiential Studio,” said Kuznick. “He has a rich background that encompasses filmmaking, advertising, and themed experiences and he understands how to navigate the complexities of an experiential event to make it truly spectacular and memorable.”
Before joining MC², Beery led a variety of creative and production teams for several major studio releases, including DreamWorks Animation’s ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ and ‘Rise of The Guardians’, Marvel’s ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, Reel FX’s ‘The Book of Life’ and ‘Rock Dog’ and the upcoming ‘Wonder Park’ with Paramount Pictures animation division. She has partnered closely with studio executives to create and deliver successful marketing campaigns that capture the passion and dynamism with which these feature films are created.
“MC² has a long history of delivering best-in-class experiential solutions to some of the world’s most notable brands,” Sears said in a statement. “Melissa and I are truly excited to combine our storytelling background with MC²’s established global infrastructure that encompasses strategy, design, production and installation.”
