US hospitals face influx of patients and staffing shortages, which has resulted in patients not being seen quickly enough, what has happened to the US healthcare system, and why is it failing so badly? 

The mistreatment of many general practitioners and nurses either by insurance companies or hospitals has led to severe shortage of physicians and nurses which has worsened the overcrowding of ER’s nationwide and waiting time to obtain care.

The low reimbursements and salaries for General practitioners has chased away many of them out of the health field all together even though GP’s are the ones who tend to manage all the chronic medical conditions (High blood pressure, Diabetes, low back pain…etc)  and subsequently keep patients out of the hospital.

You provide an urgent care facility service for patients, so what type of services do you provide? 

Treatment of all upper respiratory infections, bladder infection, Skin infections, rashes, joint pain/neck/back pain, Asthma, headaches/Migraine, laceration repair/stitches, EKG, blood work on site, Gynecologic care, Incision and drainage of abscess, IV fluids, chest pain/abdominal/pelvic pain, trauma’s, x-rays, sprains/fractures, STD testing and treatment.

Would it be quicker for a patient to visit MYDOC, instead of visiting their local hospital? 

Very Quick,  waiting time is no more than 10 minutes and all patients are successfully triaged and discharged within 30 minutes from the time they come in.

You have previously said that MYDOC is to supplement, but not replace, the efforts of emergency rooms and primary-care physicians, so do you see your service as a positive step in reducing the waiting list and the strain that US hospital face? 

Absolutely, in fact any given urgent care with capable emergency trained providers can see over 80% of any given ER volume, we only send patients to ER for confirmed heart attacks or strokes or blunt traumas or surgical patients.

The average wait time to see a Doctor in the USA is 26 days, so can you run through me how long it takes for a patient to be seen by a Doctor through MYDOC from the day they ring up one of your offices?

Clark County, Kentucky – Deric Lostutter, the hacker and activist known for his work on the Steubenville High School rape case, is taking his activism to a local level by volunteering at a homeless shelter in Clark County. How long have you worked in the medical industry?

I’ve been a physician for over 23 years, and I’ve been in practice for almost 2 decades.

You have said that you have developed the first ever “nerve block” for rhinoplasty, what does that actually mean, and how will it benefit patients?

A nerve block is when an injection of Anesthesia is placed in specific nerves around the face to prevent them from feeling pain. We know that surgery can be quite painful, therefore, by blocking the nerves we are preventing the release of pain neuro messages. Since our body is not releasing or receiving these messages it will not know that something painful or traumatic to the face has occurred.

Without these pain messages our patients require less pain medications, avoiding harmful narcotics that are addictive and habit forming; the same medications that contribute to the opioid epidemic.

Without your new nerve block, what is the average time a patient who has had plastic surgery can leave hospital and go home?

Typically, it is 1-2 hours, we also found that patients who were in other hospitals would have nausea and vomiting that can cause swelling and affect the final results of your surgery.

So, by using your nerve block technique, how much sooner could a patient return home after plastic surgery?

Patients would leave between 30 minutes to 1 hour sooner on average. More importantly, none had vomiting or nausea symptoms since our patients are avoiding pain medications thanks to our nerve block.

Nerve Block techniques are normally associated with chronic pain, such as shoulder injury, so how does your technique work for patients undergoing cosmetic surgery?

It works the same way; in fact, I learned this technology from my mother. She had wrist surgery, and I was impressed by how fast her healing was and how pain free she felt. I was curious as to why other Dr’s did not use this in other disciplines.

So, you say that your technique allows patients to avoid using strong pain medications, so, lets be clear, what type of painkillers are we talking about, and is it really worth having the nerve block procedure?

Patients are avoiding fentanyl, morphine, and norco; all 3 extremely strong drugs that can have life altering effects even in the smallest of doses.

How did you develop the new technique, and why do you believe it is so important for patients to use it?

I looked at the medical literature and used a nerve block similar to other specialties. My knowledge of facial anatomy allowed me to pinpoint the exact locations for this block to be effective.

If the procedure allows patients to go home much sooner, does this mean that cosmetic surgery could become more affordable due to spending less time in hospital?

Not necessarily, but it does make the overall experience much better for our patients. Patients are not only in less pain but they can also resume their daily lives such as going to work much sooner after the procedure without being in that narcotic fog.

A lot of patients are put off cosmetic surgery due to the pain after the procedure, do you believe this new technique will encourage more people to improve their appearance?

Our goal as surgeons is to make the procedure as accessible as possible for everyone and to allow our patients to have a fast and easy recovery with as little pain as possible. Pain is one of the main concerns when it comes to facial plastic surgery, so having the technology capable of improving that is a game changer.
