Dry Lining vs. Plaster Repair in St. Louis

0

Anyone who is looking for the best plastering services in St. Louis, Woemmel Plastering is the right option. They’ve been in the business for over 85 years and offer a wide variety of services for residential and commercial purposes. The professionals at Woemmel Plastering are experts at repair and work with plaster, ornamental, EIFS, stucco, and much more.

With a wide range of services includes dry lining and plaster repair, which are very popular. That’s why today we will discuss the differences between the two so anyone can determine which option suits you the best.

Dry Lining

In the process of dry lining, plasterboards are cut in the shape of the walls and they are attached to a wooden frame. Then, a fiberglass mesh is used at the walls, corners, and fastening points. To provide a smooth finish, three layers of joint compound are applied and then the surface will be ready for painting.

Dry lining offers many advantages. For one, the installation is very simple, which means the client will spend less money and it will be less time-consuming. It can also help the client save money because since it provides a layer of insulation, energy bills will lower over time. This is particularly beneficial for people who llive in cold climates.

Another great thing about dry lining is that it’s safe and effective because water permeability is low and the materials used in the process are non-toxic. It’s also less likely for drywalls to crack or chip, so it will last more. Not everything’s perfect, though. The main disadvantage of choosing dry lining is that the walls won’t be as sturdy or solid as wet plastered walls. It’s also not great for soundproofing and the texture is not attractive to many.

Plaster Repair

Plastering walls is a lot more labor-intensive and it’s also an investment because it requires specialized skills, but it’s worth it for many people. Plaster repair can be as easy as touching up or more complex than that, which would take more time, work, and money. Now, there are many advantages and disadvantages to discuss here.

As for the benefits, we can say that plaster is soundproof because the material is a lot denser. It also provides a high-end look to the walls because it can have a smooth finish or a stucco finish, so the aesthetic is a lot better. However, plaster has a harder texture and it’s also brittle, which means hanging pictures and art will be challenging and there’s a higher risk of cracking and chipping.

How Whiplash or Head Trauma Causes Migraines

0

It’s very common for people to experience headaches or migraines after head trauma. For many patients, this is a temporary issue, but for others, it becomes a long-term or permanent problem that can only be solved with headache surgery.

Today, we will discuss how whiplash or head trauma can lead to migraines and even occipital neuralgia, a condition where the occipital nerves become inflamed or injured, causing severe pain in the upper neck, behind the ears, or in the back of the head.

Understanding TBI

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is when a patient’s head, brain, and/or neck gets seriously injured, leading to long-term complications. Headaches and migraines are the most common complications and it occurs in up to 81% of patients.

Most headache issues related to TBI will last a year or a bit more than a year, but 20% of patients will continue to experience headaches and migraines for 5 years.

Headaches and migraines that relate to head trauma can evolve, which means new symptoms can be developed. There’s no way to know when a head trauma will result in chronic or persistent headaches, though.

How Whiplash Can Lead to Headaches and Migraines

When someone suffers from head trauma, whiplash can be responsible for chronic and persistent migraines. The purpose of our necks is to keep our heads stable. When there’s unusual motion or the body is alerted to trauma to the head, the neck tenses up to prevent damage to the head.

The force of the head moving in one direction while the neck is working hard to remain stable is what leads to whiplash injuries. The muscle tissue can be damaged as a result; those muscles can tear or develop micro-stretches.

Now, because the muscles in the neck tense up to prevent injury, they can become tight. This is why so many people experience sore muscles after a head injury. What’s happening in this situation is the same thing that occurs when we pull a muscle.

The stretching and tearing make the muscles sore. When they heal, there will be scar tissue, which leads to tight muscles, inflammation, and nerve compression. The latter is what triggers a distress signal to the brain, leading to headaches and migraines after head trauma.

Final Words

If you have exhausted every treatment option and you still suffer from chronic headaches and migraines, it could be time to consider headache surgery. At the Neuropax Clinic, patients suffering from many different issues will find relief, including people who suffer from chronic headaches or migraines.

The Neuropax Clinic is the St. Louis Leader for carpal tunnel, headache surgery, patients suffering from chronic pain, nerve compression, and many other complications. What’s the Difference Between St. Louis and Kansas City Style BBQ?

0

When it comes to barbecue, there are many different styles to consider. Today, lets focus on the differences between St. Louis BBQ and Kansas City BBQ. One wouldn’t think barbecue could be so different and provide such a different experience, but it does!

St. Louis Barbecue

St. Louis BBQ is often compared to Kansas City BBQ because the sauces share some similarities, but they’re different enough for people to know the difference when they eat them. The St. Louis barbecue sauce is a bit thinner because it contains vinegar, which also makes the sauce less sweet. This barbecue style is characterized by a sweet-and-sour flavor with a bit of spice.

The sauce is often tomato-based and because it doesn’t contain much sugar, it can be used to cook the meat without causing the sauce to burn. St. Louis barbecue ribs have a unique cut, which is known as St. Louis-style, which is meatier since the rib tops, cartilage, and sternum bone are removed.

If someone is looking for a good barbecue restaurant in St. Louis to give this BBQ style a try, Sharpshooters Pit and Grill has some of the best barbecue in town. Located inside the St. Louis SharpShooter shooting range and Sharpshooters Pit and Grill offer barbecue ribs, brisket, smoked turkey, and many other mouth-watering options on the menu that will give a great taste of the St. Louis flavor people know and love.

Kansas City Barbecue

When anyone thinks of BBQ sauce, you’re probably thinking of the Kansas City style. This sauce is tangy, sweet, thick, a bit spicy, and delicious. It contains many ingredients, but it’s tomato or ketchup-based and brown sugar or molasses are a must as a sweetener. This is the main difference between the St. Louis sauce and the Kansas City sauce; the latter has a high sugar content so it can burn easily.

Kansas City is where barbecue was born, which is why this is the traditional barbecue sauce. Kansas City BBQ is known for using a variety of meats, so Kansas City will not only stick to pork. Kansas City also uses beef, turkey, lamb, chicken, sauces, and even fish on certain occasions. If it’s meat, it can be barbecued.

One will recognize a rack of Kansas City-style barbecue ribs by the burnt ends and the meat is crusty and fatty, not to mention super flavorful. The meat is slow-smoked with different kinds of woods and this BBQ style is also known for the variety of side dishes that often accompany the meat.

Final Words

St. Louis BBQ and Kansas City BBQ are very different but they’re both delicious and they’re definitely worth a taste. If you’re in the mood for St. Louis-style barbecue, Sharpshooters Pit and Grill is the place to go and you’ll enjoy every bite. Their menu is so varied and everything is so fresh and delicious that any BBQ lover will have to go more than once to discover everything they have to offer.

Description: Sharpshooters Pit and Grill’s St. Louis BBQ Restaurant located inside of the all-new, state of the art StL SharpShooter – the newest and largest world class indoor shooting range in St. Louis MO, is open for business and serving up delicious BBQ daily.  The main draw of Sharpshooters is the on-site smoked brisket and turkey, smoked daily.  Every day is a new batch.  Finding your favorite dish may take a few trips, so make sure to try everything.  Check in daily for the specials, there’s always something going on.

Director Arma Benoit Drops ‘80s Inspired Video

Atlanta-based director Arma Benoit is set to release her latest music video for dream pop song “Oomy Oomy” this June. The track, performed by budding star Oomy Obsidian, features a number of visually recreated iconic 1980s music videos.

Benoit, coming off a string of successful collaborations with artists Cherae Leri and Ashilee Roberts, was excited to tackle such a unique concept saying, “I love getting to think outside the box and I’ve gotten really lucky with the alternative artists I’ve gotten to work with.”

“This was Oomy’s very first music video, so I was thrilled she was willing to trust me with my ideas. The song just really gave me an ‘80s pop vibe. Plus, Oomy has a playfulness to her that those ‘80s videos really captured,” Arma said.

“Oomy Oomy,” a hypnotic, drum-heavy R&B jam was filmed at Studio Space Atlanta and updates Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical,” The Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This,” Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love,” Prince’s “Raspberry Beret” and The Power Station’s “Some Like It Hot” substituting the original stars and putting Oomy in the lead.

“I really wanted for Oomy to be able to represent herself authentically, and I loved the idea of artists like Prince and Annie Lennox who already turned things like fashion and gender identity on its ear. Plus, it was fun making her the lead who gets the girl, instead of the traditional white guy hero of the ‘80s.”

Arma added, “Out of the five videos we recreated, (Oomy) had only ever heard of the Prince video. So I had fun giving ‘80s music video lessons. However, Oomy did suggest that she do the Spike Lee look and she absolutely nailed it.”

KeÁ Obsidiãn not only co-starred in each scene, but she handmade almost all of the costumes including Oomy’s Spike Lee costume. “I can’t say enough about KeÁ’s talent and hard work. We worked very closely together on each element and wow, she really nailed it. That Raspberry Beret suit she made for Oomy is incredible!”

As a director, it was both fun and challenging trying to match shots. During prep, Arma says she had a blast with set decorator Amanda Lippert hunting through the furniture at Central Atlanta Props and Sets trying to find the right chaise lounge for “Some Like It Hot,”, or the gold records for “Sweet Dreams.” Storyboards by Chris Hunter also helped keep the day both organized and accurate. On the day of filming, Arma worked closely with the director of photography, Sterling McGee, to match the shots. “We basically held an iPad or a phone up to the monitor as we went along to match framing.” For the edit, Agustina Vanni worked with Arma to get the flow right. And John Peterson at Moonshine Post really made it all work with his color correction. Finally, animator Anastasia Makin Magic worked with Arma to recreate both the animation styles of “Raspberry Beret” as well as “Some Like It Hot.”

“I am beyond excited for this video’s release. The ‘80s were a magical time for music videos. I hope to continue to bring back that kind of creativity to my work today.”

“Oomy” is officially set for release on June 4, 2021.

It is very simply the chanting the holy names of God in a group with the intention of bringing love and joy to all. Somewhat like a choir group but the difference being it is traditionally done outdoors while moving from place to place along with musical accompaniment such as Mrdangas (two headed drums) and kartals (Indian cymbals).

Churches Partner Through Gardening and Drama for Unity

0

Washington, DC – Achieving unity in diversity among churches is tough. Where do we start? Hope of the Generations Church, VA, is starting with their new initiative, STEPS (Spiritual Thrivers Establishing Peace & Solidarity). “I think we need to find just one thing to agree on, and then we can go from there,” explains Pastor Tenickia Polk.  Pastor Tenickia leads a new, small and diverse congregation in Fairfax, VA of varying cultures and socio-economic statuses. She admits it can be challenging to maneuver through all the varying idiosyncrasies and differences we have.

“Having a doctor sit next to someone overcoming homelessness is no small feat. Throw in different races and ethnicities, and the dynamics will change even more. At times, everyone is uncomfortable- including me. But like any relationship, the only way to stay together is with continuous honest dialogue, reflection, readjustments, and personal growth in God. STEPS is yet another way we are continuing efforts to realize God’s hope in John 17:21, “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” We’re starting with one STEPS event on June 1st…one day, one project, one experience, one presentation. Then, we’ll just wait to see what God will do, and how He leads.”

On Tuesday, June 1st, a group of families from rural Georgia will work with the school children from southeast Washington, DC to take one step in achieving this unity in diversity.  Hope of the Generations Church in Fairfax, VA is coordinating this cultural exchange. Together, the group will build raised garden beds for the students at St. Thomas More Catholic Academy to help manage, and learn to grow their own food (something the students from Georgia are accustomed to doing). In addition to the gardening project, the children of the both groups will work together to create high energy “skit” dramas under the direction of Maurice “Murph” Murphy who has done this style of drama, and drama training working with young people in churches and schools for over 10 years.

Some of the skit themes include overcoming things like fear, low self-esteem, and anger. The older students will perform several skits for adults and the younger student population in grades pre-K- 2 so that everyone is edified. Pastor Tenickia hopes that this one step of experience together will lead to more steps, and ultimately a lifelong greater understanding. STEPS is a part of the Hope of the Generations Thrive Week. Hope of the Generations Church, VA is a member of ACTS Global.

Medical Doctor, Inventor, Dr. Jim Beecham Launches his ‘Immunity Passport’ & skin test On Indiegogo

0

Innovative medical inventor, Dr. Jim Beecham, announces the launch of his unique patent pending skin test & Passport system, to make the next Coronavirus pandemic much less damaging

May 28th, 2021 – Dr. Jim Beecham is looking ahead just in case another coronavirus epidemic should raise its ugly head in a few years. By his new test, he hopes to make that next pandemic much less deadly, taking fewer lives and leaving our economy in much better shape. You see, the retired medical doctor has designed a painless skin test to find out if you have T-cell immunity against Coronavirus. In just days, it could help identify those individuals who are immune to the virus, such as from prior unsuspected infections. Turns out that category includes up to one third of the human population.

Many lives have been lost in the current Covid-19 pandemic, and it isn’t over yet. Our economy is in a mess. Families are mourning the loss of their loved ones, and in financial despair. What if it doesn’t have to be this way? Dr. Beecham believes we can do better next time, if we get busy.

This new test may immediately be able to tell, within 48 hours, who has at least partial immunity to the coronavirus. People are surprised to learn they do, such as happens when people had the ‘common cold’ type of coronavirus. By allowing those people who are safe, to get back to work, if their doctor agrees, we can save our economy next time around.

Unfortunately, for the Covid-19 pandemic, such a quick and easy skin test was not widely applied. Dr. Jim and his latest invention hope to make next time safer for us.

The details of his program are available online. Visit IndieGoGo.com and search on that site for Immunity Passport.

This is not anti-vaccine, as Dr. Jim is quick to point out. “It’s not against vaccines at all. Vaccines are good medicine, but it takes a year, at least to develop a vaccine against a new coronavirus. What if, in the meantime, instead of locking everything down and ruining our economy, we could safely send that percentage of our population back to work? It might be possible to keep our economy from crashing, and it’s certainly something worth testing in a clinical trial.”

The fundraising campaign Dr. Beecham has started plans to deliver the prototype skin test and make the first design of the Immunity Passport. Dr. Beecham indicates his next steps will be to line up a top provider of Clinical Trials, design the trial and start the testing.

As Dr. Beecham says, “Please join me and spread the word, so we can get this off the ground, to fight for our country and our good health. We must keep working, even as this Covid-19 pandemic winds down. That is the only way we are going to be ready for the next pandemic, natural or artificial, if it happens, God forbid. So, if you want to help, here is your chance. Visit Indiegogo dot com, then search for Immunity Passport. And don’t forget. We’re all in this together. So, please join me in the fight to keep these pandemics from taking our lives and ruining our families and our economy. I thank you and our future generations will thank you.”
