Thirty is the newest American afro-futuristic erotic short film and art project written, directed and produced by American artist and designer Shrodrick Spikes and co-produced by Spelman College Alumna, Diamond Sands. The independent film premieres on August 22, 2020 and mark Spikes’ transition from art shows to immersive multimedia art experiences.
Set in current day 2020, Thirty focuses on the experiences of designer Day Blanco as she spends her thirtieth birthday home alone due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as things take a mysterious turn when she falls asleep. The film stars model and fashion designer Deshanique Blanco and
was filmed at the white Haus Gables asymmetrical home in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward. The home was designed by award winning architect, Jennifer Bonner.
Spikes offers his thoughts on the Afro-futuristic film and creative house, stating: “Shrodrick Spikes is not only the first Black owned and operated contemporary creative house– it changes the way we experience art, design, fashion and wellness while disrupting the contemporary space and showcasing blackness in nuances that are normally not seen in the mainstream.” He adds: “Thirty is made for men and women who have a deep appreciation for things that make them feel seen and appreciate deep thought and authentic artistic experiences.”
The film’s direction and production was guided out of necessity due to COVID-19, as Spikes couldn’t offer patrons a typical art experience at any venue. This led to him pivoting and rethinking an approach to the project that culminated in the erotic shortfilm and accompanying line of luxury women’s underwear.
The Shrodrick Spikes Bamboo Cotton Underwear is an additional artistic element to the Thirty film experience. Users on Triller were confused when Donald Trump’s official Triller account suddenly got millions of views without much increase in likes. On Friday, the views were found to be fake when a video by realjamesh, a British YouTuber and musician uploaded a video titled, “This is how I got Trump 100 Million views”. In the video the 15-year-old claims the view count botting as his own and even provides proof.
James Haworth, who goes under the alias realjamesh, lives in England and has made controversial content in the past such as when he uploaded a video titled, “A postcard from Instagram” which featured him supposedly receiving a postcard from the social media giant Instagram, however it was later disclosed by James that the postcard was fake after fans called him out on the video, telling him to come clean.
Triller, an upcoming video sharing app, hasn’t responded to the video yet although it is likely they will terminate the realjamesh account on Triller which was nearly as 1000 follower’s despite being made only days earlier.
realjamesh told viewers in the now viral video the method he used to generate such large numbers of views. James had been messing around with his video in a web browser when he realised every time he refreshed the page a new view was added to the video’s view count. He then gave viewers a brief idea of how he scaled the operation up using python, a programming language. The code is shown in the video but with large parts blurred so it would be harder for people wanting views on Triller to replicate.
Halfway through the video and at the end James does warn people that if they use this method they will probably get their accounts terminated on Triller, however despite those warnings people will undoubtedly use the method for their own benefit as the basic principle isn’t hard to follow, and without a doubt some similar person wanting more views with a bit of programming experience will re-create the program and share it causing Triller potentially many problems with their algorithm.
James disclosed in the video he had not view botted his own videos but did mention he had shared the method to a few friends who did view bot his videos. This led to the realjamesh account on Triller being at #10 in the UK Triller leader board and #24 globally for a few days, as a result of millions of views being added in the matter of hours. One of his short videos on the app also appeared on their trending page for multiple days, again from the view botting.
The outcome for James isn’t positive though as it is likely his account will be removed on the app, just before he reached the 1000 follower mark. The only sign of Triller being aware of his actions came a few days ago when his newly added verification badge on the platform disappeared and hasn’t returned, despite the account being heavily impersonated.
Triller is still a new app in the video-sharing market and it will be interesting to see how they respond to a video exposing their entire algorithm.

The loss of muscle mass and fitness in old age may be reversible by providing the body with a key molecule it needs to rebuild blood vessels, CELFULL has found.
The arteries and capillaries which transport oxygen and nutrients around the body are not replaced as quickly when we’re older and this leads muscles to tire more quickly. Eventually they start to atrophy from under use. But new research showed this process was “surprisingly easy to reverse” in elderly mice by supplementing a key ingredient which helps maintain and rebuild the inner lining of blood vessels. It resulted in a new tangle of blood-carrying capillaries which reversed muscle loss and saw the endurance of the creatures improve by as much as 80 percent.
A treatment to restore fitness and combat frailty in old age would be a major step towards living longer, healthier lives as it would mean older people could stay active and independent and reduce the risk of them ending up in hospital.
While there’s no guarantee the same effect would occur in humans, the findings were so impressive that the group have already begun clinical trials looking at whether the results can be replicated.
One of the key components is a member of a family of protein molecules called sirtuins.
These have been dubbed “longevity proteins” in other studies looking at their impact in aging. The researchers began by deleting the area of the genetic code in mice which allows them to manufacture one type, sirtuin one.
They found that at six months old these mice had a much less extensive network of blood-carrying capillaries, and about half the fitness, when compared to mice that were still able to produce it.
After seeing the effect of the absence of sirtuin one, they decided to see whether the reverse would hold true if they boosted its levels in older mice.
The team focused on an enzyme, NAD+, which activates sirtuin one but its production slows down with age and it begins to break down more quickly in the body as well.
To create NAD+ the body needs another substance, nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN).
Eighteen-month-old mice – a rodent “old age” equivalent to mid-fifties in humans – were given NMN for two months and saw their network of capillaries restored to levels seen in young mice.
This led to an increase in endurance, measured by the length of time they could keep running on a treadmill, of 56 to 80 percent.
They now think that NAD+ boosting chemicals can counteract this decline and allow the body to keep remodelling blood vessels.

It was easy enough to test: Put a wheel in a cage full of mice, and the mostly inactive animals will run for miles at night. The researchers collected blood from elderly or middle-aged mice that had an exercise wheel in their cage for 6 weeks and then transfused this blood into old mice without a wheel in their cage.
Lazy mice receiving this blood eight times over 3 weeks did nearly as well on learning and memory tests, such as navigating through a maze, as the exercising mice. A control group of couch potatoes receiving blood from similarly old, non exercising mice saw no boost. The rodents getting the blood from the active mice also grew roughly twice as many new neurons in the hippocampus, a brain region involved in learning and memory, Villeda’s team reports today in Science. That change is comparable to what’s seen in rodents that directly exercise.
The researchers couldn’t find much Gpld1 in the brains of the exercising mice, however — it doesn’t seem to cross the blood-brain barrier. Instead, its brain-boosting effects may derive from cleaving certain other proteins from the membranes of many types of cells. Those freed molecules then enter the bloodstream and lower inflammation and blood clotting, processes tied to dementia and cognitive decline in elderly people. Villeda’s team now hopes to find a drug that could mimic this effect and be given to elderly people who are too frail to exercise.
Such a treatment — or even blood from exercising people — could also help younger people who are in rehabilitation and can’t work out, suggests Willard Freeman, a University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, aging scientist who sees severely injured soldiers as a Veterans Affairs researcher. He cautions, however, that Villeda’s team has uncovered just one part of a cascade of events. “We have a lot to learn.”
