RIFFA 2018 Jury panel will be adorned by some of the most illustrious names of international cinema and esteemed Oscar, Emmy, BAFTA, Canadian academy award, Indian national award and Palme d’Or award winners.
Saskatchewan, Canada, June 27, 2018: RIFFA [Regina International Film Festival and Awards] President & CEO John Thimothy has officially announced the Jury members for the upcoming edition of the esteemed film festival and awards ceremony in a recent press conference on June 19, 2018. The 2018 RIFFA jury panel is graced by some of the most accomplished international figures from the world cinema who have been the celebrated recipients of the prestigious Oscar, Emmy, BAFTA, Canadian academy award, Indian national award and Palme d’Or awards.
The 2018 RIFFA [Regina International Film Festival and Awards] is scheduled for August 14-18, 2018. The elite film festival and awards ceremony will be hosted at Cineplex Odeon and Casino Regina, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Some of the most prominent members of the RIFFA 2018 Jury Panel include- Nandita Das, Ravida Din, Mark Jonathan Harris and Alanis Obomsawin.
Leading Indian actress and renowned international figure Nandita Das will chair the international jury. One of the most celebrated names of Indian parallel cinema, Ms. Das has chaired many international film festivals before, including the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. This is the first time the award-winning actor will chair an international film festival in North America.
Ravida Din, the erstwhile director general of National film board of Canada, will chair the Canadian jury. 3-time Oscar winning director Mark Jonathan Harris from the United States will chair the 2018 Documentary Program. Akin to Ms. Nandita Das, Mr. Harris too is one of the most high-profile figures in the international film festivals. Alanis Obomsawin, the highly respected Canadian filmmaker and Canadian academy award recipient, will chair the 2018 Indigenous Program.
Like every year, this year too the RIFFA 2018 is looking forward to the screening of some of the best short films and world premiere of new promising movies from all over the world. The festival will debut its 2018 edition with a grand Opening Reception at the Casino Regina show lounge which will be followed by 3 movie screenings. The movie screenings from August 15-18, 2018 will be hosted at Cineplex Odeon. The final day of the festival, August 18, will also hosted at Casino Regina with a red-carpet event and RIFFA Awards show.
