The Asian Entrepreneur Magazine raises $3.8m for international expansion


The Asian Entrepreneur, a London-based business media company, has raised $3.8 million in a recent round of investment led by Cavendish Capital, Sharp Capital Grp. and AJS Investments. The Asian Entrepreneur describes itself as an international business media company that focuses on providing educational insights into the startup ecosystems of Asia. It currently engages in educational publishing and offers an integrated digital platform ( for readers to access content that is curated and produced by a dedicated team of international authors and contributors. Beyond media, The Asian Entrepreneur is also actively engaged in various community-level initiatives such as events organization, consulting services and investment sourcing with various stakeholders in Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Japan and China.

The proceeds from the latest financing round will be used for international expansion plans as well as corporate restructuring according to official statements. “The Asian Entrepreneur hopes that this latest round of investments will help it navigate through the uniquely changing landscapes of media and content consumption which necessitates corporate changes. The investment will also provide the necessary financial foundation to realize broader strategic plans for entering new markets and segments in the next 2 years.” the company stated.

Founded in 2011 by Melvin Poh and Harshul Srivastavas, The Asian Entrepreneur Magazine originally began as a print publication sold in the United States. The company has since expanded beyond print and has focused on appealing to international demographics. To date, The Asian Entrepreneur is actively accessed in 20 countries as of 2017. It has previously raised funds from undisclosed investors and currently operates in 5 regional markets.
