Keith Lightfoot launched the SPEED Project in April 2020 in an effort to inspire people during the pandemic. To date he has created more than 330 episodes that have touched the lives of people around the world.
NEW ZEALAND – 25 Mar, 2021 – “Don’t die with your dreams inside you!” Those are the words fueling 69-year-old New Zealander, Keith Lightfoot, to maintain his SPEED (Short Powerful Episodes of Enthusiasm and Determination) project every day.
Keith Lightfoot is a speaker, author, songwriter, and teacher who is passionate about helping people. At the beginning of the nationwide lockdown in April, he took on the challenge to record and upload motivational messages every single day to inspire those who were struggling to deal with psychosocial and financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I was looking for a way to uplift and inspire people during Covid,” said Lightfoot. “Once the positive feedback began to come in, there was no way I could stop. It has morphed into a beautiful long-term commitment.”
Despite being almost 69 years old and often exhausted from motivational speaking and teaching, Lightfoot rises early to begin his daily task of editing and uploading another free episode of SPEED. To date, SPEED has surpassed 320 episodes- representing over 660 hours work.
Photo celebrating the 100th Episode
But there is nothing hurried about SPEED. Although short, Lightfoot gets to the point with clarity through thought provoking stories that challenge the listener to examine and transform their mindset and life.
Asked about the response to the project, Lightfoot said: “The comments and private messages are extremely humbling. I frequently get messages from people telling me it is now an important part of their daily family ritual and/or their business motivation”.
One SPEED fan expressed the dynamic impact, Lightfoot’s programme has had on her life. He said: “I don’t know who you are, but your stories have touched me at a time when I had run out of hope.”
SPEED videos are uploaded individually onto Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube every day. Business organisations are also posting the inspirational videos to their internal Facebook pages to motivate their teams.
But that’s not all. Keith also extracts the audio and uploads it to Spotify, Google and other PODCAST platforms, and CaveFM Radio Station plays the SPEED messages to uplift the local community.
Commenting on his vision for the project, Lightfoot said: “My dream would be to get Jacinda Arden to promote the videos.” “I know she is very passionate about helping the people of New Zealand.”
In the meantime, Keith continues to work towards fulfilling his promise to his mother, Mary, whose last words to him were “Don’t die with your dreams inside you!”
Keith is a speaker, author, songwriter, and teacher. He lives in a tiny village in New Zealand with his beautiful wife Andrea. Keith says, “Unlike many speakers, I am not enabling people to build wealth. I am enabling people to feel worthy and capable”.
The past 12-months have been some of the hardest if not the hardest of the last twenty years. The COVID19 pandemic which cost nearly 3million lives, has changed the world we live in. As well as costing lives, jobs, and putting a strain on the world medical profession, it has also increased the number of people suffering from mental health.
The World Health Organization which previously reported that stress cost American businesses up to $300 billion a year, has said more people than ever before are suffering from stress due to the COVID19 pandemic. It is no wonder more people are suffering from stress with the problems that the pandemic has caused, but one man who wants to bring hope to people and reduce stress levels is Sixty-Nine-Year-Old New Zealander Keith Lightfoot.
Keith Lightfoot who launched the SPEED Project in April 2020 in an effort to inspire people during the pandemic has been credited for helping people all over the world.
The SPEED Project which means Short Powerful Episodes of Enthusiasm and Determination has been a huge success. Already there have been more than 330 episodes, so we decided to catch up with speaker, author, songwriter, and teacher, and find out more about the man and the project.
First of all, can you please introduce yourself?
KL: Hi, thank you for the opportunity to chat. My name is Keith Lightfoot. I live in a lovely little village called Pukerau (in New Zealand) with my beautiful wife Andrea. My focus is to help people with their well-being and self-worth.
You launched a Free Online Motivational Service early last year, can you tell me more about the project?
KL: When the lockdown began, people became anxious and depressed about their immediate situation and the long term consequences. I wanted to reach into people’s homes and help them, and the best way was to develop something online that everybody could access for free.
As well as being an author, public speaker, songwriter, and teacher, please let me know if I have missed anything out, you have also become an inspiration to so many people during the pandemic, how does it feel to know you have helped people?
KL: It is humbling to know that I have made a difference and it inspires me to keep going. The positive feedback and the wonderful comments often bring tears to my eyes.
Let’s talk about how you have helped people. For those people that don’t know, you have recorded and uploaded more than 330 episodes of motivational messages during the pandemic, how did that come about?
KL: I distinctly remember celebrating 100 Episodes! At the beginning “100 Episodes” seemed almost impossible. I am grateful for the people who have encouraged me, supported me and believed in me. SPEED is a constantly evolving process.
When you uploaded your first motivational message, did you intend to just to that as a one off, or had you planned to keep doing it?
KL: I still remember the emotional, physical and psychological effort required to plan, design and create the very first episode of SPEED. It’s actually “quite scary” putting yourself “out there” for everyone to see and judge. I am so thankful it was well received and within a week, people starting commenting on the positive impact it was having in their lives.
You have already created and uploaded 330 episodes, where do you get the motivation and energy from every day?
KL: I get motivation and energy from my loved ones and from the people who reach out to me and tell me how it has helped them. My purpose and destiny is to “make a difference” and SPEED is a vehicle to help as many people as possible.
The COVID19 pandemic has hit people in so many different ways and has been the reason for the huge increase in mental health issues, how have you handled the pandemic?
KL: I am blessed to be surrounded by people who love me and support me. My family and friends believe in me and they encourage me to “keep going”. I find the most effective way to deal with the pandemic is to focus on helping others. We can all make a difference in the lives of people, we all have something unique to offer.
How do you plan each episode, and what is the one thing you want people to get out of them?
KL: Planning usually involves book or online research, followed by mind-mapping, brainstorming and then individual episode design. I want people to realise how special they are and how important they are to their family and friends.
Some people have said that your episodes have helped them to cope during the pandemic, how does that make you feel?
KL: I feel grateful and humbled by the feedback. I am constantly looking for ways to do more!
Once the pandemic is official over, do you plan to continue uploading more episodes?
KL: Yes. There is no “end date” for SPEED, just as there is no “end date” for helping people with their anxiety and depression. I want people to pursue their dreams and goals!
You have called your campaign SPEED, why choose that name and what does it mean?
KL: SPEED stands for “Short Powerful Episodes of Enthusiasm and Determination”. I came up with the name during the initial design and creation process in 2020.
Although you are based in New Zealand, and you are helping people in your home country, you are also helping people around the world, was that your intention?
KL: Yes, we are all impacted by the pandemic, no matter where we are located. One of the benefits of the internet is that a message can reach all corners of the world.
And lets talk about you after the pandemic, what will life be like for you once this Covid situation has finished?
KL: Once the pandemic is over I will continue to write, speak and coach. People everywhere are hurting and I want to help.
Finally, what dreams do you have left?
KL: Everything I do revolves around my mother’s last words “Don’t die with your dreams inside you!” My goal during my time on this planet is to help people not to “die with their dreams inside them!”
Thank you for the opportunity to chat. I appreciate it.

USA, March 25, 2021 Carolyn Watson-Dubisch has become a successful author with 11 children’s books under her belt. Not only does she write children’s books she also illustrates them and comic books, making her one very talented person.
Her children’s books have become a huge success, entertaining children all over the world. And now, she has released her latest children’s book which will explode children’s imaginations.
The Sun Rises: Morning in Mazatlan which was inspired by Carolyn Watson-Dubisch daily walks with her dog has already got her fans excited. The book which is available on all good bookstores is set to become one of her biggest success story.
We decided to find out more about Carolyn Watson-Dubisch and her new book, and this is what she had to say.
First of all, please introduce yourself.
My name is Carolyn Watson-Dubisch, and I write and illustrate children’s books and comic books. I currently have 11 children’s books that I’ve written and illustrated. I also have three comic book series for kids that I’ve created, “The People That Melt in The Rain” (illustrated by Mike Dubisch), “The Horribles”, and “The Dragon in The Closet” and books by other authors that I’ve just illustrated. Some of my work has also been published in children’s magazines like Hopscotch, Highlights for Children and for years I had a matching game feature that ran in Whimsy magazine. One of my books, Fireflies, was read by Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York on “Story time with Fergie and Friends”, just last month.
Can you remember the first book you read, and which book got you hooked?
Yes, I remember the first book I managed to read on my own when I was a child. It’s called “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing” by Judy Blume. I think most people of my generation started with Judy Blume books. She’s an icon and I’m pretty sure I went on to read everything she wrote at that time. She started me reading and it was an incredible gift.
Before we talk about your new book As The Sun Rises: Morning in Mazatlan, let’s first talk about when you got interested in becoming an author. So, what age were you and why did you want to write books?
I suppose I came to writing children’s books a little bit backwards. I started as an artist and received my degree in illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. During my time in school, I realized I was most inspired by what I saw children’s book artists creating. Chris Van Allsburg’s books like the Polar Express were very popular and a book called Tuesday by David Weisner had just been released. I had the privilege of seeing the original art in a show in midtown and I just knew that I had to do this. So, I focused on children’s book illustration for my senior year.
It wasn’t till a few years later when my daughter was born, when I was 27, that I began really writing stories all the time. I was reading picture books constantly and it was just a natural progression to start writing them. My first children’s book was released from Pentland Press in 2001. It’s called Andy, And The Flying Toaster Tangerine.
You have written a large number of books; can you explain your writing process. What I mean is, some authors like to write away from other people, J. K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter in a café, and some authors like to dress up as their characters, how do you write your books?
Well, I’m not one to climb a tree and hide while I work. I like to get up and start writing in the morning. My mind is clear, and I can focus better on the story. I tend to write at the table in the center of my house, not because I wouldn’t like to be tucked away in an office or studio, but because I just don’t have a space like that. Maybe once I’m vaccinated, I’ll try writing in a cafe. I miss cafes and leaving the house and well… it’s been a long COVID year.
Can you tell me how you came up with the idea of your new book, As The Sun Rises: Morning in Mazatlan?
The book is inspired by our near daily walks with our dog on the beach here in Mazatlán. The beach in Mexico is much different than the beach in, say, California. The music of banda bands is constant; they walk up and down the beach to find people to play for carrying their brass instruments and even speakers. The parasailers fly overhead, the fishermen dive for oysters, and in the evening the fish start jumping over the waves.
The story follows Juan and Maria as they spend their Saturday shellfishing with their father on the beach. They chase crabs, spot a sea turtle and dance to the music of Mexico.
You have written a lot of children’s books, what makes your latest book so different?
This is the first time I’ve written about where I live and set it in a place that is an actual city. I brought in local children to pose as the main characters as reference for my illustrations for this book.
You not only write books, but you also provide the illustrations for them. What is harder, writing the books or doing the illustrations?
The illustrations are much harder and time consuming. I’m not a novelist or even a YA novelist so we’re talking about writing books that are 800 to 3000 words at most. My comic book series may go over that but even, so the art takes months and in the case of comics years to complete a series.
What is more enjoyable, the writing or the illustrating?
I enjoy both quite a bit, but maybe the writing a bit more. When I write, my head is in another world and I’m trying to move my characters through it and for out the story like a puzzle. I actually love storytelling, but I don’t love editing. Illustration is all labor, though I do enjoy the finishing process.
Your new book is going to be available in different languages including Spanish, why did you decide to do that?
This book will be in just Spanish and English. The book is being published in the United States, butI live in Mazatlán, Mexico and I wanted to make sure there was a version of this book in the local language that I could sell. There are several other languages in Mexico, but finding indigenous translators is not easy, but maybe for the next book.
Some authors say it is much harder to write children books than books for adults, what is your opinion on that?
I think it depends on where your mindset is. Stories for adults can be darker and more layered but come with their own challenges. For children word count is important. Not everyone can tell an engaging story in less than 800 words (for a picture book), or avoid adding sexual content of any kind, or in the case of rhyming tales keep it short and sweet. Telling stories in verse is common and can ruin a story or make it amazing. One of the most common trends in children’s books today is always delivering a “message”. Don’t be a bully, share your toys, etc… I think a message can be great, but I think it can also ruin a story to be constantly looking for the hidden message. I’m right now reading a Stephen King novel, for entertainment, not because I expect a morality lesson.
You have become a successful author, what would you say the secret is to your success?
I’m constantly writing and working not just on the next project but on promoting my books that are already out. It’s a constant task, every day. I have even arranged a couple local school visits for this book, which will be fun. I thought it would be impossible to arrange visits with the pandemic going on, but I was happy to find schools are willing to wait until I’m vaccinated.
So, what can we expect from you next, are you currently writing a new book and if so when will you publish it?
Yes, I have two more books coming soon. I am a sculptor and sell my masks online to costume houses for TV and film, plays and photo shoots. I am releasing a book about mask making in the next few months called “Amazing Animal Masks” and another children’s book I’ve written and am illustrating centered on “The Day of The Dead”. It’s called “Andy and The Mask of The Dead” and I hope to release it before October 2021.

Noel Veloz may only be thirty years old, but he has already established himself as a force within the fashion world. The creator of HEMINCUFF, a luxury vegan accessories line, Noel regularly crafts one-of-a-kind bags for Hollywood and music celebrities as well as top CEOs. His work is so unique that Noel has quickly made a name for himself as a designer who is not afraid to experiment and break fashion stereotypes.
Noel got his inspiration for being a designer from his dad. “When I was about five, I used to sit around and watch as my dad, an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, sewed on his machine. He could make anything: clutches, backpacks, card holders – anything his clients wanted. He developed a reputation as being the guy you went to if you wanted something high quality but couldn’t afford the luxury stuff. The fun part was his clients’ reactions – when they saw my dad’s work, their faces really lit up. I was always really proud of him.”
Noel was so affected by his dad’s impact on people that he wanted to do the same thing. “I tried to make my own duffel bag when I was fourteen, but that didn’t turn out too well,” he laughs. “I still had a few things to learn. Eventually, I had to get a job, so I tried being a physical therapist and even a librarian, but that just didn’t do it for me.”
Everything slid into place when he began working in retail and interning in fashion. “ I knew I had found what I was meant to do because it never felt like work. On my way home from work every night, I used to walk alone from 51st Street to 72nd Street and study every luxury boutique store window. I learned so much about visual merchandising just by doing this. I also watched documentaries about luxury bags and designers on YouTube. I couldn’t get enough of it.”
Noel may have found his passion, but success didn’t come overnight. Noel is grateful for the advice he received from industry professionals. “Rebecca Minkoff assured me that if I persevered like she had, I would make it. Virgil Abloh and Heron Preston told me basically the same thing, so I took it as a sign that I needed to just gut it out and keep going.”
Noel gritted his way through some tough days and finally arrived at the proud moment when he started his company, HEMINCUFF. He’s committed to its mission: to empower creative, adventurous professionals who aim high, focus on achieving the unachievable, and look elegant while doing it. “Our clients are at the top of their professions, either in the business or the creative world. One thing they really like about HEMINCUFF is that the work I produce is meticulous. Nothing that I make is rushed. I am setting the tone for the vegan luxe market and have plans to elevate it even more.”
Noel is passionate about HEMINCUFF’s focus on vegan products. “I saw videos of major luxury brands harming animals so that they could use their skins for their products. This is intolerable. I want HEMINCUFF to lead by example and create luxury products without harming any animals. We also help nature by putting greenery in the background of every production shot and by donating to onetreeplanted.org with every bag we sell.”
Noel has a clear vision for HEMINCUFF. “Picture this: HEMINCUFF’s entire line will be made-to-order. That’s cool enough as it is, but what really will take this over the top is that every client will receive a video of their bag being made. What that means is that everyone will have a luxury experience on my website. I’m also in the process of expanding and am interviewing craftsmen to be on my team.”
Noel’s vision for HEMINCUFF’s future is exciting. “Do you remember seeing pictures of people who traveled via ocean liners back in the 1800s? They had those big trunks that carried everything they would need for a world voyage. I love those things, and I am determined to release the world’s first luxury vegan trunk. Cool, right? I’m going to call it the Paris Presidential Trunk.”
Noel’s idea is, indeed, unique, but it’s what will go inside each trunk that will make it truly special. “Each one will include a picture of my dad,” he says softly, smiling. “There would be no HEMINCUFF without him, so he deserves to be honored this way.”
