Anticipated Follow-Up to Acclaimed Album by John Consalvo – Released nearly 15 years ago

USA, April 17, 2021 “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” It’s a saying that conveys — at its core— the idea that greatness isn’t a short-term project. Instead, it’s one built over a series of days, a series of months, and in one musician’s case – a series of years. For singer/songwriter and fantasy author John Consalvo, greatness means remaining steadfast in the face of hardships, even if they seem insurmountable. Fifteen years ago, Consalvo explored these themes of hope and uncertainty in his breakout rock album: Choose This Day. Filled with Consalvo’s original acoustic beats, the album was a raw and honest introspection by a man learning to overcome the pain and precariousness of life, both on his own and through a close relationship with Jesus Christ.

Fifteen years later, Consalvo is ready to explore the boundary between the sacred and the mundane once more — this time exploring the role of faith in a time where the world seems to be ending, a sentiment shared by many in the wake of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. Consalvo’s second album Into the Apocalypse – Part A: Divided & Conquered moves from the realm of self-reflection into the realm of man during the end-times.

The album was recorded at Irongrove Studios and produced by Tyler Mays. “Working and collaborating with Tyler is incredible. For certain, he is one of the true prodigies in the business today. I really appreciate how determined he is when it comes to maintaining the spirit of a song. And the end result makes it all worthwhile.”

Serving as the first half of an apocalyptic journey told from the viewpoint of one person, Into the Apocalypse – Part A: Divided & Conquered is a lyrical and melodic expedition by a man who, while en route to reclaiming his purpose and dreams, is beset by challenge after challenge. “This entire story is one that I believe many can identify with,” says Consalvo. “A man finds himself in a world, not much different than the one we live in now. As if paralleling the journey undertaken by John—the apocalyptic prophet and author to the New Testament’s final book, the Book of Revelation— Into the Apocalypse – Part A: Divided & Conquered too delves into the crises of the human condition when faced with chaos. Whereas the Book of Revelation relies on vivid imagery to walk its reader through the end times, Consalvo instead takes listeners on a journey through his distinct hybrid of folk-rock and pop with country undertones that characterized Choose This Day, while setting itself apart with catchy rock edginess that is, proudly, without any filler tracks. The album’s debut single, “Open the Sea”, is described by Steven Azami, the multi-instrumentalist song reviewer from RadioAirplay.com, as follows:

“Open the Sea” from singer/songwriter John Consalvo is a stirring and powerful plea for true love. Vandi Lynnae Is Back With Two New Singles: Hope in the Hurt And Time Hurts

Vandi Lynnae is an artist and performer who has recently released a brand new single, Hope in the Hurt, which will be followed by another one in many, Time Hurts.

This track is a perfect example of what it’s like to produce great music with a passionate and emotional feel.

Both songs have something amazing to offer, and each melody brings forth a different quality of the artist’s incredible creativity and delivery. Take the first song, “Hope in the Hurt.” This track is based on a minimalistic, yet rich and beautiful piano pattern over a catchy, understated drum beat. One of the most distinctive traits of this release is certainly the energy and the drive that fuels the performance of the artist. The lyrics are very emotional and come from a deeply personal place, which really highlights the genuine connection between Vandi and the lyrics that she sings. The vocals feel very animated and spontaneous, an obvious sign that this performer is actually genuinely connecting with her lyrics, in a much deeper way. This isn’t just a puppet singer popping out catchy hooks: there is a deeper concept behind the songwriting, which really adds weight to the mix.

In addition to the personable and edgy performance value, this release is also quite distinctive because of the sheer quality of the production. The mix is balanced and very detail-oriented, making for a lively, edgy, and stark sonic approach. In other words, there are many subtle nuances in this release, which really add to the richness of the track when summed up together. The frequency spectrum of the mix is also very balanced, with a tight, yet deep low end working wonders along with a smooth top end, which adds a sense of clarity to the music.

Hope In The Hurt stands out for its modern sound, but although the production is quite polished, it is never overproduced, allowing a lot of wonderfully organic and “human” elements to really add liveliness to the mix.

The second single in store for Vandi is titled Time Hurts. There is something truly special about this track, and much like the former, it is a highly emotional piece of music with some beautiful, genuine lyrics. The song begins with a very uplifting melody that has a bit of an 80s vibe, reminiscent of iconic artists such as Madonna or Annie Lennox, only to mention a few. However, this song is not just a piece of nostalgic revival with a retro sound: there is a modern wave to the music, which makes it fresher and easy to relate to. I love the fact that the melodies surround the vocal performance beautifully, and letting the drums come in later, enabling the track to gain a gentle dynamic build-up and go for a more personal listening experience for the audience. This song is very touching when it comes to its lyrical content, and it is going to fill your heart with hope. What I love about Hope In The Hurt and Time Hurts is that these songs have many things in common, but at the same time, they are also quite different from one another showcasing Vandi’s versatility and giving the audience a glimpse at her incredibly diverse skillset as an artist. She can seamlessly swing from catchy pop to understated ballads, and her amazing vocals are always enchanting and beautifully, never failing to impress! If these two singles are any indication, we can’t wait to hear what is in store for Vandi’s future in music!

Ultimately, I’d definitely recommend giving both songs a shot, particularly if you are a fan of artists such as Halsey, Billie Eilish, and Sia. This is the kind of music that will surprise you for its sonic variety, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat due to its catchy, yet unpredictable arrangement. I always love to hear from artists who set the bar higher and push the envelope when it comes to their productions: this certainly appears to be the case!
