Andre Citroen and his family secrets.

0
Francuskie.pl

The relationships of Andre Citroen, Poland and it’s capital Warsaw, seem to be much closer than we could have guessed.

Andre Gustave Citroen was born on February 5, 1878, in Paris, as the fifth child of Louis Citroen and Masha Amalia Kleinmann, the lady born and raised as a Varsovian. Andre’s paternal grandfather was Barend Limoenman of Dutch origin. Andre’s grandpa’s family sold exotic fruit. Over time, however, they became involved in jewellery and diamond trading. Then, Barend Limoenman and his family moved to Paris. Due to the difficulty in pronouncing Limoenman, he decided to change his surname to Citroen. Parents of Andre Citroen’s future mother, Masha Amalia Kleinmann, namely Isaac and Miriam Kleinmann, lived in Warsaw during the partitions in the Kingdom of Poland. This time was difficult for the Polish nation and other ethnic groups.

Mr and Mrs Kleinmann had eleven children: Bernard, Salomea, Julia, Amalia, Balbina, Eleonora, Anna, Flora, Tekla, Jonas, Michael.  They owned a tenement house on 49 Królewska Street in the so-called “Northern District” and occupied a sizeable eight-room apartment on the second floor. The tenement house did not survive until our time (GPS coordinates 52.237067, 21.003756). It was hit by bombs already in the first days of World War II mainly because of its location in the very centre of Warsaw. During the Warsaw Uprising (1944), it experienced a real siege, becoming a silent witness to the heroically fighting insurgents in defence of their city against the invader and there’s no sign of the building today.

Izaak Kleinmann was a merchant and had a monopoly on selling salt from a mine in Wieliczka in the Kingdom of Poland. Thanks to this venture, he was a wealthy man for that time. Despite being the father of eleven, money was not a problem for him, and so he looked around Europe for suitable husbands for his eight daughters. He was an emancipated, modern Jew, a cosmopolitan who fluently spoke German rather than Polish. He felt better in Berlin or Vienna than in Warsaw. Kleinmann daughters received a thorough education, they knew foreign languages, they were pretty, wealthy, and their father quickly found spouses among Dutch, German, French Jews,  educated gentlemen, devoid of complexes. The most beautiful and probably the luckiest of the ladies was Amalia because she married the Dutch banker Louis Citroen.

The wedding of Maza Amalia and Louis Citroen took place in Warsaw on October 31, 1870, in one of the Hasidic prayer houses. The newlyweds went to live in Paris. They had five children: Jeanne (1872), Hugues (1873), Fernande (1874), Bernard (1875), and of course the said youngest son Andre (1878).

Amalia, who went to Paris, missed her family and the Vistula Region, as the Kingdom of Poland was commonly named. Her contacts with the family left behind in Warsaw were mainly by letters. An interesting fact of this correspondence was that Amalia wrote the letters to her family in German. In 1884, when Andre Citroen was only 6, his father Louis Citroen committed suicide during a nervous disorder. At this point, all the family chores, as well as running a jewellery business fell on Amalia. However, she was a strong woman who did not give up and tried at all costs to face the difficulties and meet all the challenges.

Meanwhile, in Warsaw in 1888, the energetic Isaac Kleinmann dies. He was buried next to Gustav Horowitz’s prematurely deceased son-in-law in the Jewish Cemetery in Warsaw at Gesia street, which today is Okopowa street. His tomb survived, and it also contains Polish inscriptions (Sector 32, row 19, no. 58, pl M). GPS coordinates 52.246507, 20.974729.

Amalia’s grandparents and parents could not go to Paris, as they had many problems with arranging more children and running their own salt business, which filled their time. No photograph of the Kleinmann grandparents survived until today. Family photos were destroyed and burned during the Warsaw Uprising.

In the summer of 1891, Miriam Kleinmann and her daughter Julia Horowitz went on vacation. Part of the family decided to go to a guest house in Otwock near Warsaw. However, Miriam Kleinmann refused to go to Otwock together in exchange for a trip to Ciechocinek with her granddaughter Janina. The granddaughter, on the other hand, did not want to go with her grandmother as she hoped to enjoy bathing and playing together with her peers. Mrs Miriam Kleinmann took offence at everyone and went to Ciechocinek with her son Jonas. During her stay in Ciechocinek, Mrs Kleinmann got a twist in her stomach after overeating with raspberry and died.

Miriam Klienmann’s funeral took place at the Warsaw Jewish Cemetery. All Miriam’s daughters came from abroad: Eleonora, Flora from the Netherlands, Anna, Balbina, Amalia from Paris and Tekla from Germany. The Warsaw siblings hosted them. For Amalia, as it later turned out, this was the last visit to Poland. She came alone, leaving all her children at home. It was also the last great meeting of the Kleinmann family. The gathering filled with aristocratic ladies in big hats with feathers and rustling dresses who decided to attend the funeral ceremony. They brought suitcases filled to the brim, furs, and expensive gifts. During the funeral ceremonies, there was no ending to sobs and lamentations, as the tradition of the Judaic religion dictates, but all this despair was just for show. Miriam Kleinmann was rather famous for her callousness and selfishness among the family, which is why her death did not move anyone in the family. Andre Citroen’s grandmother’s grave is in Warsaw at Okopowa Street (sector 5, row 26, No. 65) GPS coordinates 52.245342, 20.97739.

But let’s go back to 1891. The death of Miriam Kleinmann caused a considerable change in the life of one of Miriam’s daughters, Julia Horowitz and her nine children who lived in Warsaw. Wealthy siblings waived all the inheritance rights after the deceased mother for the benefit of Julia. She inherited a tenement house at 49 Królewska Street and cash capital. Thanks to this decision, Julia did not have to worry about dowries for girls or money to teach her sons. At one point, she became a wealthy person.

After grandma Miriam Kleinmann’s funeral, they all went to their homes, including Amalia Kleinmann. As I mentioned earlier, Amalia Citroen’s contact with her family was mostly by letters; however, Julia’s daughters visited aunt Amalia in Paris. Around 1896-1897, Miriam Kleinmann’s granddaughter Janina visited Paris. She was delighted to stay at Amalia Citroen’s house.

And this is where we stop for a while for an exciting story. Janina was shown around Paris by Amalia’s 17-year-old son, Andre Gustave. Once, they went to Versailles together. Unfortunately, there was a large crowd at the entrance, so without further ado, young Andre, slightly raised his bowler, and said briefly “La Presse”. At that moment the people parted, letting Andre and his cousin Janina pass, so they could quickly visit the Palace and the gardens. Janina mentioned this incident many times, as then she thought, young Andre would go high and, as you can see, she was not mistaken. Janina’s stay in Paris was enjoyable.

Aunt Amalia liked her niece and took her everywhere, showed her around friendly fashion houses, Paris museums, bought many beautiful things, and dresses. She also promised to guide Janina’s future. But, as it usually happens, life played a trick on Janina. Suddenly, it turned out that at the moment Janina wanted to inform her mother about her plans for the future, the postman unexpectedly brought a letter advising that Janina should return to Warsaw. Her sister Kamila decided to go to study in Berlin, and Janina did not want to leave her mother, Julia alone in Warsaw

In 1899, just two years after Janina’s visit to Paris, the mother of Andre Gustave – Masha Amalia Citroen – died at the age of 48. The funeral took place on May 25, 1899, in the Montparnasse Cemetery in Paris. Her untimely death had a significant impact on the future of her youngest son Andre.

On January 24, 2020, at the Jewish Cemetery in Warsaw at Okopowa Street, a meeting took place between Mr Remigiusz Sosnowski – Cemetery Administrator, Mr Jedrzej Chmielewski – editor of the largest French automotive portal in Poland Francuskie.pl, Mr Michał Bojańczyk – husband of the great-granddaughter Jeanne Goldfeder primo voto Citroen and Mr Ryszard Olszewski, researcher of the ties between the Citroen family with Warsaw and Poland. The primary purpose of the meeting was to accurately identify the graves and write down their geographical GPS location.

LaTribuna Christian Publishing Reports On The Necessity Of Having Chaplains In Healthcare Providers

0

LaTribuna Christian Publishing’s CEO Chaplain Paul Vescio is quoted saying, “Chaplains provide the added love and support that care center patients so desperately need. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I was visiting with a patient and helped them with their needs. Many times, I would go and get a nurse because the patient was struggling with healthcare issues. Chaplains are more than just someone who pops their head in the door, shares a scripture verse, a God Bless You and then leaves. We really do help in uplifting the patient’s spirits and in being a helping hand with their needs. Chaplains also provide the compassion, hope and love of Christ that can mean the difference between having a positive day or having a very negative day.”

LaTribuna Christian Publishing is very pleased to announce, Chaplain Paul was mentioned in a recent story about these very important healthcare issues. The article was published by the Arizona Republic and featured on Az Central.com

Here is the link to that story written by Reporter Brianna Frank: https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-health/2020/06/11/covid-19-restrictions-leave-some-chaplains-unable-visit-patients/3165184001/

Here are some key points of the story that feature Pastor Wayne Basye and Pastor Charles Ross who are very close friends of Chaplain Paul.

‘Night and day’ difference between virtual, in-person chaplain visits

Wayne Basye, 71, is pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church in Yucca, Ariz., a small unincorporated community that’s about a half-hour drive south from Kingman.

He said there’s been four people in the area who have been hospitalized since the pandemic, and subsequent hospital visitation restrictions, began. One of them died.

Basye said it’s hard to tell people, some of whom have been in his congregation for 10 years, that he cannot physically visit and comfort them in what could be their final days.

“We believe in touching, the laying on of hands,” he said. “I do understand the virus and the nature of the virus but I also know that there’s ways of getting pastors and spiritual leaders in to visit people.”

He added that having a pastor present during someone’s final moments isn’t just for the person themselves, but for the mourning family.

“[The pastor] brings the family through that situation — if they can’t be there with the family and it’s just done over the phone, it’s hard to assess the damage,” he said. “You can turn what might be a horrible situation into a beautiful situation. That person knows the Lord, he’s going to be with Jesus, the people there know the Lord and they’re happy for him … a lot of times people need a pastor there when they so-called ‘pull the plug.”

That hasn’t been able to happen for the last three months. Though Basye can speak to hospitalized people over the telephone, he said it’s not the same.

“It’s night and day,” he said. “It’s the difference between someone calling you up and saying ‘hey, how you doing?’ and somebody taking care of you when you have a broken leg, but that’s all that’s been available and there’s nobody to blame … it’s just one of the stories that’s going to come out of COVID.”

Chaplains provide “medicine for the soul.”

Pastor Charles Ross, 47, knows the importance of having a spiritual leader present during a hospitalization — having needed one himself, at a point in his life.

Ross was hospitalized at a Phoenix facility from April 2016 to August 2019.

During that time, Chaplain Paul Vescio regularly visited Ross, who told The Arizona Republic that his stay would “absolutely not have been the same” without the chaplain’s reassurance.

“On the days my wife couldn’t make it, my church members couldn’t make it … I always knew I would at least have Chaplain Paul come sit with me,” he said. “Not for five, 10 minutes but sit with me for hours. We’d talk about life, we’d talk about the word of God, we’d talk about everything.”

For the last few weeks, he’s been conducting virtual bible study via FaceTime with one patient at the facility, though he hopes to eventually hold the sessions through Facebook Live so more patients can join in. And in an ideal world, he’ll soon be able to return to in-person bible studies with those who are hospitalized.

Like Basye, Ross believes having a pastor or other spiritual leader around when one dies can help the person pass peacefully and comfort their family through their mourning.

“It’s extremely important to have someone that you feel is connected to God and has a relationship with God in your time of need and grief,” he said. “In those times, you don’t feel like you’re capable of reaching God or that he hears you, so you rely on pastors, you rely on someone else to get that message to God on your behalf.”

Ross said it’s “unfair” that many patients across the state are unable to see their spiritual leader because of the COVID-19 restrictions.

He said he wishes every hospital or care facility in the state had an in-house chaplain, saying that they are “just as important as doctors, nurses and CNAs (certified nursing assistants).”

“He was that person in my ear that reminded me that God hasn’t forgotten about me, and that’s just as important as medicine, because it was medicine for my soul,” he said.

LaTribuna Christian Publishing CEO Chaplain Paul Vescio was also quoted saying:

“Chaplains are more than just a quick passerby, we are the patient’s friends, advocates, and helping hands, we are very essential in ensuring the safety, and spiritual and healthy wellbeing of the patients. It’s far past the time that a pathway to safe visitation was created so that patients and family members along with members of the Clergy can be reunited in order to provide the spiritual and the loving care that people so desperately need in American healthcare. Please contact your elected officials and share with them the importance of having Chaplains in American healthcare and in expressing your concerns about the heartbreaking corona virus polices facing our nation right now.”

Naomi Nucia Glay Who Empowers Sexual Abuse Survivors Gives An Interview On Power Talk

0

Miss International Africa/Miss International Liberia, Naomi Nucia Glay, who is also a model has started her own 501c3, Power Talk Inc (powertalkeonline.org). Power Talk sparks taboo conversations by providing knowledge and resources needed for personal wellness.

The non-profit organization which is now in its third year is helping men, women, and children who have been a victim of sexual abuse. Power Talk event will take place on July 12th via Zoom provides a non-judgmental atmosphere for both men and women to share their testimonies while aiming to inspire the voiceless.

This is a very important organization that is giving those victims support and a voice. So, we decided to sit down with Naomi Nucia Glay and learn more about Power Talk and how those who have been victims can move forward.

  1. Naomi Nucia, you are Executive Director of Power Talk, please explain what Power Talk is?

Power Talk is a non-profit organization that focuses on having shame-free and transparent panel discussions on social and taboo topics. Now in its third year, Power talk advocates for Men, Women, and Children who have been victimized bt sexual abuse.

  1. What is the main aim of Power Talk?

The main aim of Power talk is to stimulate conversations that are challenging to have by providing resources and education needed for personal wellness. while being a voice for the voiceless and hope for the hopeless.

  1. How do you believe you will succeed with your aim? I believe I will be able to succeed with this aim by being transparent. When people are transparent with their testimonies, the audience feels connected. The recipient feels inspired and encouraged to at least talk about their traumatic experiences;1st step on their road to healing. Giving an individual a platform to speak is to not only help each individual on their healing journey but also help uplift and inspire those who can connect with that experience.

  1. In the USA, 1 in 9 girls and 1 in 53 boys under the age of 18 experienced sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult, why are these figures so high?

There is no justifying answer for why someone would harm another human being especially a child.  Some reasons could aid some clarity for such alarming numbers. The mental health of people within the united states is decreasing drastically. 45 million Americans suffer from a mental illness. Hurt people hurt people to different extents. Abusers many times have also endured sexual abuse. Internalized the abuse they have witnessed earlier on in their life and later projected that hurt on another individual. sometimes those who have been abused their empathetic behaviors never developed properly. there is no single path that leads one to engage in sexual activity with a child. unfortunately, even these statistics can not be 100% correct as many cases do not get

reported.

  1. Some experts have said the number of children who suffer sexual abuse is much higher, would you agree with that statement? Yes, child sexual abuse is a very traumatic experience to speak about, therefore it goes unreported. the relationship to the abuser plays a role in reporting. Fear of reprisal, the justice system, lack of evidence are many reasons why survivors do not come forth.
  2. Can a person who has suffered sexual abuse get over their shocking experience? I think an individual can cope/recover with what has happened to them. Frankly, dealing with sexual abuse can be a life-long experience. recognizing triggers, communication, and self-love helps you recover from sexual violence.
  3. One of the biggest problems that sex abuse victims suffer from is post-traumatic stress disorder, is this something Power Talk looks at, and how can those who are suffering from PTSD get help? yes, your road to healing is not an easy journey. some steps can help you deal with such an experience. being transparent and open allows you to deal with what has happened head-on. you can’t heal when you are avoiding the truth. support is extremely important to find someone you can trust or join a support group. its not something you can deal with on your own Recognizing the triggers, anticipating, and preparing helps you conquer your past one step at a time. Restoring your body’s balance plays a huge role in your healing journey. Protecting your mind, body, and soul will align with your healing.
  4. For someone who has suffered from sexual abuse and has not told anyone, what would you say to them? I would tell them it was not your fault. you are valuable and not alone. There are many resources available to help conquer what has happened.
  5. There was a recent article about a sex abuse offender who complained about the sex register, he said the sex offenders register doesn’t allow those on it to lead a normal life and he is campaigning to have it abolished, what are your thoughts on that? I do believe people make mistakes, I also do believe that there are consequences for your mistakes. I do not believe that is should be abolished as survivors no longer get the option to live a “normal life” after the abuse
  6. This will be your 3rd annual Power Talk Summit, would you like to see it go global so more people can be helped?

Absolutely! I would love to leave this earth knowing that many people have been given hope.

  1. Some sexual abuse survivors have said they do not believe that the law is hard enough on those offenders, would you agree?

I do agree. Perpetrators of sexual violence are less likely to go to jail or prison than other criminals. out of 1000, 995 perpetrators will walk away free. 12. Is the government doing enough to deal with sexual abuse, and what would you like to see changed?

I believe many more laws are needed to be in place. I also think education is support important within schools and at the workplace should be mandatory.

The mission of Power Talk Inc is to provide a non-judgmental atmosphere for both men and women to share their testimonies while aiming to inspire the voiceless.

Ivan Schroll, CEO of Global Games to share over 1 million USD in digital currency for the gamer audience to use on its Social platform

0

Due to the global pandemic related to Covid-19, we support our players in the best possible way: encouraging them to stay home with a good reward.

To encourage players to comply with the quarantine, a gift was sent to all users of the publisher via e-mail, in an action that added up to more than R $ 5 million in digital currency for them to use on the Global Games Social Network.

More than 500 thousand players, active and inactive, were able to use this reward.

And even though it wasn’t used the week it was shipped, they’ve already guaranteed the gift in their account to use whenever they want. That is, there is no validity for its use.

Global Gold, Social’s new digital currency, can be used in several ways.

One of the main ways is in the Conquest Store or DayBreak Online, games published by Global Games. This is a new opportunity given to players: a new market with a diversity of items for users to decide to use in the best way.

Both Stores are new features available on the Social Network, as well as other functions.

It is also possible for players to achieve these Global Golds through achievements, (Achievement System) implemented to assist and encourage all players to collect coins and make the best use of the platform.

The company’s CEO, Ivan Schroll, also points out the concern regarding the well-being of its players and the link that must be maintained with the company:

“It is of the utmost importance that the company – Global Games – supports its players in a moment as delicate as this. We did not have such a widespread virus, but we support the cause satisfactorily on our part and on the part of the users”.

This is only part of the Coronavirus prevention and combat campaign.

Global Games takes responsibility and motivates its users to stay at home taking care of their health and taking the time to value the true interaction in the community created by Global Games, in order to provide a new unique experience, exchange and good living. Thus enabling new friendships and contacts, opening doors to active knowledge about the gamer universe.

Dame Vera Lynn – A Friend of Sacred Music Radio

0

Today we learnt of the passing of an icon. Dame Vera Lynn. She raised the morale of the allies during World War 2. Her singing profoundly uplifted the spirits of the troops fighting the evils of Nazi Germany. With her music she gave hope to a nation that was in darkness.

Below is an excerpt from a letter we wrote to her on May 22nd.

‘….You are so well known for raising morale and providing a source of inspiration through music.

Sacred Music Radio was created to inspire people to appreciate each other’s music and religions and thereby promote interfaith harmony. Sacred Music Radio is part of Abrahamic Reunion (England), a registered charity in the UK.

We only play inspiring music from the world’s religions. No talking, just music.  The aim of the radio station is to bring peace and harmony to our troubled world. A similar aim to yours when you inspired our nation with hope during the dark days of World War II. When you said “music is so good for the soul … keep smiling and keep singing” – you lifted the nation’s spirits.’

On Friday June 12th 2020, Sacred Music Radio received an email (below) from her wishing us every success with Sacred Music Radio.

Dear Michael

Thank you for your lovely letter. Sadly I am unable to write these days, so please forgive me for replying by email.

Unfortunately I no longer give interviews, however, if you would like to send a few questions, I will ask my P A to help answer them.

I wish you and Amanda every success with Sacred Music Radio.

With good wishes.

The aim of Sacred Music Radio is to inspire people to appreciate each other’s religions and therefore become more tolerant of one other. The Abrahamic Reunion (England) was set up by my wife and I to inspire people on our planet in friendship and co-operation.

Teen Entreprenuers Launch Summer Bootcamp to keep busy

0
The Entrepreneur Academy is a summer bootcamp for Teen Entrepreneurs who look to build business skills then can apply right away. The program has gained regional attention for their teams of student ambassadors ranging from 7th-11th grade.

San Diego, CA – The Entrepreneur Academy (TEA) was stood up in 2020 under SOCAL EED, Inc., a non-profit organization that supporters can contribute to in order to support the TYE competition and other educational programs that are designed to foster entrepreneurship.  Most recently, student ambassadors from the prior cohort decided to move forward in creating The Entrepreneur Academy Summer Bootcamp.

This 4-week summer session is designed as a hands-on bootcamp. Students will work in virtual teams guided by university professors and mentors and learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, including ideation, business model methodology, market research and customer validation, lean canvas, and pitching. This program also provides opportunity for letters of recommendation and is a resume builder.

As the Covid Pandemic began to cause cancellations of traditional camps and in person activities, the Teens behind The Entrepreneur Academy decided to turn their program virtual.  Said one student participant “We didn’t know each other at the beginning of the program – and by the end we made friendships that will last far beyond this program.  We got to know each other over Zoom Meetings and Conference calls – we adapted.”

Strategist, Maresa Friedman, Fortune 100 Brand Narrative expert was asked to bring in strategic dissemination skills to help bring the program to a wider audience.  Friedman stated “It’s very rare to have a group of students who are able to rapidly demonstrate the high-level business skills they have learned in such a short period of time.  I challenged the students to help be a part of the media process, because it’s really their perspective that I believe demonstrates this program in practice”.

The group of adults who serve as strategic advisors, mentors, and teachers to the students spans the range of the Who’s Who in Business.  Each one of them giving their time to help create, fosture, and nurture innovation.

Live videos and interviews of the students can be found on their Facebook Page here as well as a steller presentation on how to manage your business in changing times: https://www.facebook.com/tea.socal
